The Day Before the Big Day

November 14th, 2006 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Orange

My MOH and I were going to stay over in a regular 2 double bed room the night before the wedding, and then do an early check-in into the Grand Bridal Suite. Despite the fact that I’ve had this block of rooms since July, it came to my attention today that the Grand Bridal Suite has a late check-out time (2PM) and if someone books the room night before, I will have to get ready in a small room and wait for the Bridal Suite until 2 PM. Gasp!

But the manager was able to switch us to a Grand Bridal Suite for the price of a regular room! (a savings of $200!) I am so thankful but also excited that MOH and I get to sleep in this HUGE room. :-)

I’m staying at a hotel the night before because my family are all flying in for the wedding and staying over at the same hotel. Where are you staying the night before the wedding? Your home? A hotel? Or your parents’ home?

Mr. Kiwi is staying at home (about 6 minutes away) and I am staying at the hotel with my family. In my own room, but my family will all be there.

So far I think I’ll be staying with my parents, as will my bridesmaids (2 are traveling across country, and the other is my sister), and FH will be staying at a hotel with his groomsmen (all coming from out of town).

However, if my allergies start acting up like crazy the night before the wedding, I might get a hotel room. My parents’ house is a little..um…dusty. :)

I think I am staying at my Mom’s with at least my sisters, not sure about the other three bridesmaids. He’s staying at a hotel but I’m trying to get him to get ready at my Dad’s condo rather than in a suite.

Originally I wanted to book a suite for him Friday night and then the same one for us Saturday and Sunday nights but it’s too expensive.

He stayed at his brother’s house way out in the country, where some of the OOT guests were also staying. I stayed at our apartment all by myself (well, with the two cats!) I thought this would be great, I could get some sleep, some quiet alone time so I couldn’t be frazzled the next day. Having my mother there would be a recipe for disaster, and having my MOH there would have been fun but I thought we’d stay up all night.

Turns out I was a bundle of nerves anyway, and didn’t get to sleep until 3 am! Later I found out that DH was the same way, and also went to bed at 3 am. Too funny!

Once he was sure I had left the apartment for hair/makeup appointments, he came back and got ready. My MOH and I did early check-in at the hotel where DH and I were staying that night at and got ready there.

Home! We both did, since we live together. Not romantic, but free and practical.

My fiance and I are both staying at the hotel that we’re getting married in. I am going to miss him picking me up in a limo though and playing the bridal games (chinese customs)…but then when I’m plastered around midnight, I’m sure I’ll be counting my lucky stars that the only thing I have to take is an elevator back to my honeymoon suite.
