About Mrs. Lime

chair nerd

Awhile back at an industry event, I had a fleeting thought about how great it would be to have designer chairs at a big sit-down event or wedding. For a wedding, I thought that the white Panton chair or any of Phillippe Starck’s clear chairs would make an awesome statement with minimalist linens and centerpieces.

Roberta Karsch offers the Starck Louis Ghost Chairs as rentals, but I will probably have to go with whatever chairs my venue includes.

I also love the idea of using some of the candelabras that are hot right now - that have the traditional overall shape of one, but are less fussy and decorated (usually just clean, fluid blown glass) so that flowers can be kept to a minimum. I love flowers and am a total flower whore, but may not have the budget to do what I want if I depend solely on them for centerpieces and decor.

I found this image, and it pretty closely captures one direction that I might want to go in for the overall feel. I love the all-white/clear color palette with splashes of graphic color.

I have no idea where I got this picture from. I haven’t really been good about saving info on picture sources until recently, as I started saving them for my own use only and didn’t anticipate writing on weddingbee. If you know the source, please let me know. Thanks!

you should check out chameleonchair.com

they’re in LA. My friend is actually one of their sales reps. They’re the only upscale chair rental place that I’ve ever heard of and they do a lot of big events like the Grammys, etc.

They may not be as clean as those lucite chairs, but they’re certainly something different.

I wanted to rent the Starck Ghost chairs as well and called someplace that was mentioned in New York magazine. They didn’t have enough chairs, for one (NY mag didn’t really fact check!)–and for two, the cost was about $100 PER CHAIR.

Too rich for my blood X 125 people coming to my wedding, but they really are cool and comfortable to sit in.

If you want to rent similar chairs but at a better price, I ran across this website. They carry the Victoria Ghost chair, like the Louis but without arms (saves a bit of space!). I am using them for my wedding coming up this April. We got a great loft space in DUMBO Brooklyn and with the chairs the modern and clean feel of the space will be complemented. Everyone I talked with was very helpful and made me feel like I was making the right choice. Anyhow, good luck on your quest for the perfect chair. Hope my recommendation could help a bit. Their phone # is 347-408-1244.

Thanks for the phone number but didn’t see the website for the victoria ghost chair? Is the supplier Resource One?

The supplier is not Resource One. I called them several times and was unhappy with their customer service. The supplier is Victorious Events and their web address is http://www.VictoriousEventsNYC.com. As I said, they are very helpful and made me feel so comfortable.
