Isaac Mizrahi For Target Wedding Gown

November 15th, 2006 @ 5:47 pm by Mrs. Bee

Victor & Rolf designed a collection that included a $349 wedding dress for H&M that debuted this week. The entire collection sold out in minutes and by day’s end, most of the pieces could be found on ebay.

Not to be outdone, Target released a $69.99 ivory chiffon pintucked wedding dress by Isaac Mizrahi today! Mizrahi says of the gown, “It’s sexy and chaste at the same time… The woman who wears this plans to have fun at her wedding.” (via modernbride dec/jan07)

What do you think of both of these gowns? Would you wear either of them?

The second dress is shapeless, not shapely. The first dress the shape is drowned by ruffles.

Consider me less than impressed (And my wedding dress didn’t run much over the H&M price).

The bow on the V&R gown is a bit over the top for my taste. And I dont like the Isaac Mizrahi gown at all. I don’t see how anyone could have fun in that dress.

Eh,t he top dress looks like a little too much for me, ruffles-wise. The seond dress is nice, but not as a wedding dress. :)

i was not interested in the H&M one at all. i dunno but… it looks… weird.

as for the target one… it seems more suitable for a woman who is not necessarily a spring chicken anymore and it’s not her first wedding. that’s the feeling i get from it.

Miss Bluebell, that’s so funny that a security guard screamed at you over an H&M dress. You would expect that level of “clothing” security at Hermes or Chanel..someplace upscale. Good for you for going back and taking a pic of dress anyway.

I want to sleep in the Isaac Mizrahi dress. It looks nice and soft.

Hehehehe I had heard about the H&M dress and was hoping to check it out, so was pleased to see one in one of the SoHo stores! I was talking on the phone and said in normal volume “oh, here’s the H&M wedding dress, I’ll take a picture to send you!” and then a second later when I hung up, held the phone up to to the dress in that easy to recognize “I am taking a picture with my cameraphone” position. THEN all of a sudden the security woman standing all of 6 inches away from me during this whole thing starts SCREAMING at me about how you can’t take pictures and “I don’t know how many you ALREADY SNUCK IN” and I’m like uhhh, I was about as un-sneaky as you could possibly be, do you really think this is how I go about committing illegal acts by announcing them loudly first?? So she made us leave and GLARED at us as we walked away and down the sidewalk. But I was so mad I went back and took a picture a second later when her back was turned. Take THAT evil security woman!!!

Oh and the dress was pretty nice, but I didn’t love the style or the material. But that wasn’t the point. ;-)

eh. not so much. i’m not a big fan of ruffles and i can’t really see a good outline of the second dress so it looks kind of…no? actually i’m obsessed with those sleeves…they’re strange looking

Strange, I just replied to Miss Bluebell’s comment at 6:05pm and it appeared before her post at 5:59pm.

ocicats - I KNOW!!! And there are pictures of it online (see above ;-) ) so it’s not like they’re really protecting their design by doing that or anything. So bizarre!

and I agree with Tea bout the sleeves on the Target dress! Ewwwww.

The second dress is nice, especially for a simple wedding or second marriage. I don’t like the ruffles on the first one, though. It looks too much like 80s curtains!

The first is too much, the second is too plain.

i bet that target one would look ok on an expecting bride?

that line about the Target dress should be “the woman who wears this dress just wants to sleep at her wedding”! It looks like a nightgown!

Not a fan of either. The first is too ruffly for my tastes, and the second one doesn’t look much like a wedding dress to me. I couldn’t tell if it was the dress that was shapeless or the model. Heehee, *jessi* it gave me that same vibe.

I agree just with what everyone else said, but I’ll add that for someone who would like the style, I think either would be lovely and a great buy :-) I’m not opposed to the prices of the dresses, or the stores they’re sold at, but the styles don’t do much for me.
