The Lash Lounge - Eyelash Extensions

November 16th, 2006 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Apple

I was watching the evening news yesterday and there was a clip on a local boutique that specializes in eyelash extensions. The boutique is located in Colleyville, Texas (approximately 30 miles outside of downtown Dallas) and is called The Lash Lounge.

They use synthetic lashes with different styles and colors. It costs around $25 for a set, and they last for 2-4 weeks. This means no more lumpy mascara and annoying eye curlers! I’m sure this would add a nice touch to your bridal look and you’ll have no fuss lashes on your honeymoon.

Has anyone used these temporary eyelashes? If so, did anyone notice?

I love this idea. Does anyone have suggestions for locations in New York City or New Jersey that do the lash extensions? About how much do they cost up here?

I definitely want to try this out and hopefully it will be great and I can use it for my wedding day too.

That’s really cheap - I’ve only seen them for $300+ in other places!

After checking there prices it looks like the lash tabbing is about $25 but for the full Mascara Look or Dramatic Look (depending on what you prefer) it could go around $350.

A friend of mine got hers done but not at Lash Lounge and I noticed them immediately.

Try Shu uemura on greene street, I tried their lashes for my engagement shots and the only cost I paid was for the lashes and glue which was only about 23 dollars. I know they do lash extensions but i’m not sure, I’m considering it for my wedding too

bloomies in NYC is doing them for around 100$ and necessary essentials (the beauty supply store) does them too, well some of the stores. look for the ones that do threading in the back. I had them done at Pierre Michel for 300$. It takes a good hour. They started coming off almost immediately, and were completely gone by 4 wks. You can get touch ups for $75. A very expensive habit…

BUT it is VERY evident, everyone notices… esp if ur asian and normally dont have lashes at all.
You basically cant wear mascara after this, but u wont need it! Also, as they fall off, they break off the tips of ur lashes, so beware.

Miss Poppy - ryc: I think its just single lash applicators and I’m not really sure how many you would get for that price. I guess it depends on the technician and your eyelash needs.

When I think of eyelash tabbing I think of Shitzu’s eyelashes - sooooo pretty and long!

i’ve had eyelash extensions done before a friend and they are absolutely beautiful each time. it’s natural and just makes the eyes pop. they can last up to 3 weeks if they do it correctly. i totally recommend doing it. of course i got mine done for free, but you can find places for $150.

i had mine done in Dallas for 20 bucks at Artistik Edge. Some fell off in the first week making my eye lashes look heavier on one eye. My husband eventually told me I looked goofy so I took them off. But they looked amazing that day - well worth 20 bucks. I’d love another opportunity to try it!

My sister gets them done out here in California on a regular basis. The girl she gets it done from charges $150 for the first time and then $50 for touch-ups. At first I used to think it was such a waste of money but I remember seeing her one night without them and wondering what was wrong with her eyes… I guess they really do make a difference!

my friend got them done in korea and they were awesome, still looked natural and they lasted a month, then she got them done for $30 at this old lady’s house…she got what she paid for…the lashes looked so fake and they fell off so quickly and because they were too long, she had random long lashes throughout her own which looked awful.

I used them a few times before (the daily ones). I think they do make a difference, but just make sure you get the length that you want. My friend that worked at MAC use to put them on for me. She trimmed it so it won’t look too dramatic and she did a really good job of putting them on. It blended really well and I’ve never had them fall off before. I’ve also heard of ppl loosing some of their real lashes from doing the 2-4 weeks type from a so-called professional. that’s scary, so you might want to stay with the daily one’s just in case.

I had eyelash extensions done in Houston by Crystal at Fancy Girl Hair for a pageant and they looked soooo good.
I had had them done a few times before and they were clumpy, too long, and unnatural looking. So, you get what you pay for and it’s good to do some research on the technicians experience.
She also gave me a discount if I let her use my before and after photos on her website (go look at me http://www.fancygirlhair.com, I’m the only asian).

Not a bad deal and they looked really good. Worth my time, money and happiness.

I had my lashes done in Dallas by KoCo at Lashes and Makeup. She’s located in the Park Cities area. I was referred by a friend who saw her on TV. I was a little nervous, but she told me to relax and sleep if I like. I took her advice…..when I awoke….I was astonished. I looked 10 years younger. I was so surprised. I went shopping at the mall and got plenty compliments on how plenty my ‘natural’ lashes look. I say get the lashes at least once. I will say I am HOOKED!!!!
Oh just in case her # is 972-814-0023. She uses Xtreme Lashes….

I have to tell you that if Lash Tabbing is what I think it is (flares???) it’s ultra bad for your lashes. If you put them in - in a clump- they fall out in a clump. Eyelash extensions however, are a new breed (about 3 yrs old to this country) and when properly applied (emphasis on properly), they are safe and actually help your natural lashes get thicker and longer b/c you’re no longer screwing them up w/eyelash curlers or mascara.

If you find them for 150.00 I would suggest you make sure to ask the extensionist if she’s taken any sort of legitimate certification courses. You can’t learn technique off an ebay DVD. Make sure they isolate one natural lash and only apply one extension to that lash. Make sure they also don’t touch your eyelid’s skin and clog your follicle. Your lash needs to continue it’s natural growth cycle.

If ANY of you have questions, please email me and I’d be very happy to share my knowledge.

If you click on my name “LauraLee” it takes you to the website where you can see actual images of my own work (except the bad lash jobs of course, not my work at all!). The images have not been enhanced, nor were they taken from stock pictures the lash companies supply you with. 832-618-1145 is my number if any of you have questions even if you’re not in Houston- I’d rather have you informed before you pay for something you’ll regret later. It’s important to me to save you folks from bad lash jobs. I’m a national instructor for Lavish Lashes.

The only place to go is in KTown in Manhattan called Ebenezer. It is located on 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue - closer to 5th thru the same door as the Korean Spa - YiPak. There are two stores with the same name on the same street by Owner Mason. Ask for him and tell him Cindy sent you. I just moved to SF last week and can’t find a place as good and reasonable as he is. $90 first set and 35-55 every 2-4 weeks for touch-ups. Help!

Hi all! I have been having my lashes extended for the past 6 months. I am completely addicted and in love with my lash stylist. I was recommended by a friend, went to her and havent looked back. I have seen some pretty bad eyelash jobs on some of my friends and am so happy with my extensionist! I also had them done for my wedding :-) The pics of my wedding look great but I am even more happy with my honeymoon pics. We were in St. Lucia and since it was beach oriented my pics look fab even without makeup(i don’t say that often)

I went to Ria Hountas of Lashtique. The website is http://www.lashtique.com I paid $325 for my set but she put on a TON of lashes.

I normally do not write comments but sometimes people who provide a great service deserve some love!

Hi Ladies,

I am a stylist for Eyelash Extensions. I just wanted to let everyone know that Lash Extensions are expensive for a reason. The first application is applied and takes anywhere from 2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours. So you are paying for the stylist time to do this. Plus it is extremely tedious to do because you are applying one eyelash to one eyelash at a time. If someone is offering you a cheap deal, it is either because they are very new, inexperienced or they only are putting a few on. Be careful ladies!
As with any producty everyone will always say don’t do it because….. and it is the inexperienced people who give this a bad name.
Do your research! Ask them for referrals and really call the referrals. If they aren’t willing to do that, go to someone who will!
Eyelashes are a monthly expense and you don’t want to be upset by your result when you spend that much money on them.
If anyone has any questions, let me know. I would be more than happy to help.
My email is on my website at http://www.eye-lashenvy.com
Best wishes to you!
Tanya

I’ve been going to Ebenezer in Manhattan and I’ve been most happy. They do the best quality work with individual lashes at the most affordable price, $90. You really don’t want to go with anything cheaper than that. They’ll look so fake and fall off so easy. It only takes them about an hour for the full set whereas other places take hours! They specialize on eyelash extensions, so they’re real professionals who do this everyday. You won’t be happier at other places. Check out their website http://www.ebenezereyelash.com

I personally wouldn’t trust anyone who wasn’t certified and they didn’t mention having any kind of beauty license either. Their website has misspelled words and I don’t find that very professional….just my opinion though. I happen to be very picky when it comes to my eyes……I am sure you get good results, but I just wouldn’t take that chance!! I have seen what could happen…..

Hello! I read and found someone in dallas. I went to one lady and she @#$%& my lashes. They were awful. So I came here and read and found the lady everyone speaks of CoCo. She fixed my problem. I looked better. I will also refer her to anyone. Always ask for a certified stylist. I’m glad I wnt to her. She informed me of all the rules.

Hi I do Xtreme lashes and have been for 2 years. I just got back from Houston and I am about to have advanced certification. I agree that for a good set you have to charge a fair price. At the salon I am currently running a special though at $200 for any type of set! I do colors, crystals, etc. I do know you get what you pay for but I have also seen others who over charge. Do ask questions look for a great person. if you need me, I am in the Philadelphia and Delaware area. Thanks. 302-893-3857 They are special and additicing!!

I’m sorry but I just checked the porfolio and those are not great lashes. IMHO those are what to expect for 100 bucks. You have to pay for quality. Why would someone that does a great job charge sooo much less than the average?

We have the most return clients in Southern California! Check out what Models and local celebrities have to say about EMBELLASH!!! Make sure they are using only medical grade glue made in the USA and that they are thouroughly sanitizing all of their instruments. This is so not true about medical grade glue…..and the fact that women are paying more for inferior work.
Are any of you CERTIFIED? I doubt it , my eyes are too important to me to take a chance from anyone who has no clue as to what they are doing, which I know there are a lot of you around………..I will only go with Xtreme certified technicians!!!!!! Everyone beware and do your homework!!!!

Medical grade glue that is made is the USA for hospitals in sutureles stitches is the ONLY glue that should be used in applying eyelash extensions. Cheaper glue that is ordered overseas is not regulated by the FDA and used in automotive repair and can cause an allergic reaction if it should come in contact with the skin (although an experienced technician should never get glue on the skin, only the lashes). It is hard for me to believe that many technicians like the one above is not aware of this and possibly putting the consumer at risk. Shavasana sells the best eyelash extension products in the marketplace. http://www.eyelash-extensions.com Please check out a list of qualified/certified Shavasana extensionist in your area!

You are right, Shavasana is definately the best company out there. I had mine done by a couple other companies (xtreme being one) then I researched on line and finally found Cody at the Robert Kree Salon in New York.
I think your before and after pics are awesome Michelle. If I am ever in Cali I will definately look you up!
PS: I even knew about the glue, I think that Sarah needs to follow her own advice and do her homework!!!!!
Thanks, Pam

The FDA has YET to approve ANY adhesive for lash extensions. Not one lash company has this approval!!

People should research what products their lash provider is using. I would choose one from a reputable company. I have heard of people using crazy glue in some of the cheap places- could you imagine?

Eyelash extensions are not regulated by the FDA but the glue manufactured in the USA is regulated by the FDA and the cheaper stuff from Asia is not. We should care enough about our clients to spend a few more pennies!

I read this blog and found that lady in Dallas (Highland Park) everyone was talking about. She was not expensive….she came over and did a “lash party.” All my friends loved it and signed up for them. Now I have beautiful lashes and beautiful friends. I dont care if the glue is not medical or FDA approved. I just know I’m 58 years old and when she finished I looked 10 years younger and felt gorgeous. Something I havent seen in years. Thank you Miss KOCO!!! And I say so what!

Martha, I get my glue from Novalash. Why is it so important to know what lash extension and adhesive is being used? The lady above will be concerned when her eyes are swollen, red and irritated and she needs them removed (after laying there for hours having them applied and spending hundreds)! Sure they look good but it is very common to even develop a reaction to it over time. Sometimes after numerous applications.
Eyelash extensions are a fun and safe alternative to mascara or false lashes, but consumers should follow some basic guidelines before getting eyelash extensions. Be sure the adhesive is United States pharmaceutical grade quality and approved for the use around eye area. Most lash adhesives produced from Asia are industrial quality adhesives that are not FDA approved cosmetic or medical purposes. Many black cyano acrylate’s containing adhesives were originally formulated with the automotive industry in mind and can sometimes contain impurities that are not safe for use on humans. Before using eyelash extensions, ask to see the ingredient list on the bottle. Also, keep in mind that just because someone claims their adhesive is surgical quality or made in the U.S., or the bottle says it’s a surgical adhesive, does not mean that it is made in the U.S. You can be sure that when getting your eyelash extensions from me, that you can be sure that you are getting the best product on the market, which is Novalash. The product should be manufactured in the United States. The ingredient list should read U.S.P. or U.S. pharmaceutical grade class 4. This means that the adhesive is pure medical quality surgical glue and is safe for the use on the eye area.

FYI–The lady uses Xtreme Lashes….and its medical grade. She’s certified and being doing the lashes for over 2 years. I’m not sure if you’re trying to put down the extensions, give her a bad name, or bring clients to you. but i dont think you handle it nicely. I also checked with Novalash before choosing Xtreme after research before seeing the lady. i found out that Novalash doesnt care if you licensed. They certify you after a 8 hour class. I found out Xtreme, you have to be a licensed comos or nurse or something. So I dont feel bad and I will send more friends to use Xtreme and also KoCo. So please dont use me for advertisement. God Bless you

It is SO obvious that the same Xtreme eyelash technician is writing all of these posts. Stop pretending to be a client!!!!! I know from working with beautiful, professional women that they care very much about their eyes and their eye health.
If you did so much research “Bethany” then maybe you should have taken the time to hit spell check or perhaps also take some time to enroll in an english course. Speaking of uneducated!!!
All of your info is incorrect. Anyone can find out very easily who is certified and who is not. The only other tech that sounds like she knows what she is talking about on this forum does not work for xtreme lashes.
You should be ashamed misleading consumers. This is a place where people should be sharing REAL information and not making up identities and passing false info. You are not doing a very good job representing your company.
I am sorry that you are having a tough time getting return clients but you can fix that by being certified by a better company selling better products and giving better instruction, you obviously need it:)

Before I start, just an FYI to that Bethany who posted a few months ago- Novalash only trains licensed professionals, too. But I am not here to get into that crap. I am here to warn any nurses who are considering training as a lash extensionist by one of the big named companies - DON’T DO IT!!! Novalash & Xtreme both advertise that they train healthcare professionals. I wasted $1000 on a kit & course with Novalash only to find out I cannot legally work as an extensionist with out a license in esthetics. I am furious! There is nobody I can complain to. The comapnies don’t care as long as they get your money. So I am going to all the message boards I can to tell nurses not to waste their money!

Okay! I want to jump on the bandwagon here. I live in Dallas and I just found out about the lash extensions. I went to KoCo in Dallas and she did a wonderful job. I didn’t know she was a makeup artist as well. She does the makeup for Channel 11 CBS. I always wondered who did that beautiful Karen Borta’s makeup. Thanks to KoCo she will do the makeup for my wedding and wedding party. I’m so excited. Will return with pics and comments on my look. Cross your fingers for me.

@Celina:

Your lady must be doing tabbing or is still practicing. Natural lashes fall out naturally at a rate of 3-5 a day. So if yours aren’t falling out it’s because your lady clumped them together Celina. You’re lid is going to go bald and then you won’t have anything left to glue anything to. $50. to ruin your lashes ever two months. Now THAT is the real rip off! Paying to have your lashes ruined. Priceless.

I live in Fort Worth and have searched all over the metroplex for good lash extenstions. The ladies there made my lashes look looooong and natural. In fact, my previous lashes that had been applied had been done wrong so Lauri took off all of the “sub-par” lashes. The training that goes into getting one aesthetician are pretty stringent. Prices are anywhere from $150-$300. Call Garbo’s Salon on Camp Bowie and ask.

Many of these posts are comical. Novalash and Xtreme and the other importers of eyelashes and glue get them from the same priginal manufacturer in Korea (Owner lives in Seoul, I was in his house in April 2009). The quality of the products are very important, but even moreso is the quality of the service. Cleanliness, efficiency, artful, consistent, detailed…these are the qualities you wat in your eyelash professional. Wink Eyelash in NYC opens in July of 2009 but has been taking customers already and its specialists exemplify the previously mentioned qualities. We provide a full set of up to 75 eyelashes per eye for $95…Our products are imported directly from Korea (from the gentleman I mentioned above) which enables us to deliver our services at these outstanding prices. Please ask for me directly when you call or email. -Su (So Young)

@Cindy: This may have been the case 2 years ago, but today there is a better option that has legal workers, licensed ownership and technicians, and gorgeous facilities.
