About Mrs. Plumeria

Jasmine

November 17th, 2006 @ 4:47 pm by Mrs. Plumeria

Wedding planning can be a very stressful task, and if you’re like me, you’ll find that every little bit of support (the sincere and wholehearted kind) can truly make a difference. For myself, the fact that my maid of honor, Jasmine, will be standing next to me as I get married has become a symbol of not only our long-standing friendship, but also of her unwavering support of the “bridal me” who has suddenly become prone to bouts of indecisiveness and nonsensical behavior. This entry is my little tribute to her, though I don’t think I could ever put how much I appreciate her into words¢¢â€š¬¦

Jazz and I met in kindergarten and went to school together all the way through high school. Even then, when we parted ways briefly as I went off to a college away from home, our friendship stayed strong. The memories we’ve made over the years are priceless, and while her title is “Maid of Honor,” I think I am really the one that’s honored, to have a friend as loyal and genuine as she has been to me. :)

What we did together: Wore frilly dresses to birthday parties. Apparently, lost teeth.

What we did together: Learned to braid hair and rollerblade. Wore stretch pants in flowered prints. Stuck glow-in-the-dark stars all over bedroom ceilings.

What we did together: Suffered through years of braces and all else that comes with the awkward years. Had sleepovers. Talked about crushes and played MASH. Collected Sanrio stuff. Exchanged locker combinations.

Snapshot taken: Twelfth grade
What we did together: Acquired cell phones and collected colorful covers for them. Took cheesy studio pictures (I’m ashamed to say: many many times). Got jobs together at Bath and Body Works at the local mall and subsequently became skincare nuts.

Snapshot taken: Current (Eh. Fairly current… before I started growing out my hair, though.)
What we do together: Double-date. Share goals and dreams. Talk and laugh about how far we’ve come, and look forward to all the memories we have yet to make…

Why are you thankful for your Maid of Honor?

That’s so great that you’ve had the same best friend for so long :)

My MOH is my sister, so I’ve known her all her life, but haven’t managed to keep up with any of my other friends for that long!

You two are so cute! haha.. I like that missing teeth picture. My MOH is my little sister. After all those times I annoyed her and made her cry, I think she deserves the honor =)

Aww this was such a cute post, I’m gonna have to go rummage for some old (and embarrassing he he he) pictures of my bridesmaids. I loved the part about putting glow-in-the-dark stickers on the ceiling.

Thats so sweet. My MOH was my best friend Viola. We have been friends since high school and we shared wedding planning together even though she lived in Cali where she goes to school and I was in NJ. The best part was that we got married a month apart so we talked about planning all the time. It was wonderful and I wouldnt have traded that time for anything

I also had to post because your best friend and I share a name ; )

OMG, that is so awesome! I don’t keep in contact with any of my childhood friends and its a shame. I’ve always wanted to have a best friend who’s grown up w/ me. Thanks for sharing, seeing those chronilogical pics just makes me want to say, AWWWWWW! =)

This is such a sweet post! Way to go, Miss Plumeria!

My MOH is so sweet…we’ve been friends since were were 3, and she has *always* been the calm, levelheaded one to counter my obsessive craziness :-D

I love my best friend, the woman who will be my MOH. She is the best, strongest friend a girl could have. No matter what, she has been with me if nothing else than to talk at 3 am when I had no one else to talk to. She survived a car accident that killed her mother and nephew, and she was the one to lift everyone else up through their tears. We have so many positive memories together, too. She is the biggest inspiration and I respect her so much. I love her, and that’s why I am thankful for her.

This is just a random question, but does anyone have any ideas on how to preserve lilies, my husband gave me this gorgeous bouquet for our anniversary and I would like to preserve them but I have no idea on how to do it, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, thanks a million!!!

First and foremost that is awesome! =o) When I get married, I’m definetely picking my bestfriend I’ve known since pre-school. She’s been there for me through everything! We separated for a little bit too since she transferred schools, but we still stayed close! I’m so thankful that I still have her in my life now!

Oh Vir…hehe…you almost made me cry! I’m glad that I can be a part of your life and I am sooooo excited about the wedding. I’m already tracking it on the calender and I swear I don’t know why I’m getting super nervous. But, everytime I see you and Jess together…I can’t help but smile ’cause I’m soooo happy for you two. WOoooooHOOoooo…BFF!

Alina, there arew companies that preserve weddings flowers, any kind of flower really. If you want to go extra fancy they even have glass cases to put the preserved flowers in! You can google it and I am sure there are tons of companies in your area! Good luck!

I’m actually having two maids of honor. Hey, it’s my wedding and I’ll do what I want! They’re my two best friends…I really can’t choose between them. I don’t have sisters (two brothers) and neither does he (two brothers), so I decided to give them both the honor. I couldn’t imagine having one and not the other standing up for me and with me on my big day.

I’m planning on doing something a little different for the two of them during the ceremony - something like a sash or wrap that only they get - to separate them from the rest of the bridesmaids.

But your pictures are adorable! Good luck with everything!
