Pimp My Ride

November 17th, 2006 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

I need a cool getaway car. Something a little out of the ordinary–a stretch limo simply won’t do. I’m thinking along the lines of a vintage bicycle, or a Vespa, or a Rolls Royce.

Or one of these? Beep. Beep.

What are you using as your getaway vehicle?

The Vespa is crazy cute! I’m not such a fan of the truck, but that may be just me? I can see how it would be totally cute for some couples, but it’s not our style. I’m looking into renting a cool sportscar for our getaway. :-)

I will be using a party bus for our entourage and photographers/videographer. and our getaway car will be a 1969 MACH 1 Mustang.

We are getting a stretch Hummer limo stocked with champagne for us, the bridal party, and our photographer. :)

Our getaway vehicle happens to be our feet. :) We’re staying there that night and then just driving back to our place (down the street) the next day. Honeymoon is a few weeks later. And I SO want a vespa, but Mr. Kiwi won’t let me drive one, he thinks I have a better chance of killing myself in something with no walls. :( I don’t think that makes a lick of sense, though. :) Wouldn’t I do more damage in something large and metal with four wheels?

I agree with Ashley, especially if you keep it a surprise!

We didn’t get away. We were the last ones to leave in a regular ol’ Lincoln town car.

hrm, not sure if anyone’s interested, but i used to work for a super high end rental company out of manhattan: gothamdreamcars.com. we have (or they i should say) astons, bentleys, lambos, ferraris, corvettes, etc…. it’s pretty pricey for the weekend (no 1-day weekend rentals) but if you have the money to spend, or want to surprise your hubby, it’s been done and very well received before =)

I am not even engaged yet…but I am in a serious relationship. My boyfriend and I talk about our *future* wedding all the time, and I told him I want to ride away in my grandfather’s 1939 Pontiac. It looks kind of like a gangster mobile, and I think it would be awesome!

I was thinking a vintage Ford pick-up or, easier, renting a PT Cruiser for the weekend.

The next time you see an awesome vintage car parked around town, stick a note on their window asking how much they would charge for you to use the car for the evening (they could even chauffeur if they wanted)!

Vintage bicycle (or anything with two wheels and large enough for two people, really)- CUTE!

I think we’re maybe using a cab. :D (Not driven by us.)

Either a big, high hp John Deere tractor, or perhaps an antique model (A JD B, for example). Either way, John Deere all the way my farmer and I!

http://www.filmcars.com/
– if you’re in NYC check out filmcars. com. They have all kinds of great rentals. Me? I like the 1957 Jaguar Drop-Head Coupe convertible –red, of course.

If you’re elsewhere there’s
http://www.antiquecar.com/resources/rentals.php
–where you can find a whole bunch of antique car rental places around the country, it’s kind of like a directory.

A tractor. I’m going to enjoy seeing my hubby fumble around trying to drive it!
