Reader Buzz: In Love

November 17th, 2006 @ 12:38 pm by Reader Buzz

Mrs. Bee here.

We did a reader buzz last month on who said “I love you” first. So I thought it’d be fun if we talked about when you knew you were in love with your significant other. With me and Mr. Bee, I think it was love at first encounter. ;) I don’t know if I believe in love at first sight - do you?

How long did it take before you knew you were in love?

I said more than a year because I dated him in 97 and then broke up with him because he liked me too much. Then, years later I was like, damn it! I love this guy!

Dammit, I was going to write my story but it’s the same as Miss Kiwi’s!!! Only 1999 for us. :-) But after we got back together I knew in a matter of days!

i knew within that first week we were together. everyone freaks when they hear that we shared “i love yous” a week after we became official but that’s how we felt and it didn’t feel rushed.

Tea — it was the same for us. We said “I love you” a week after we started dating and we knew we were going to get marrried that soon too.

so did we jen! in fact, he started calling me “wifey” towards our first monthiversary [because he felt our commitment to each other was greater than just bf/gf and more like husband and wife] and we officially talked [ie admitted to each other] about marriage at our second monthiversary.

I knew at the end of our first date that we were destined for marriage. It freaked me out, too. The next day I avoided his calls, left town and headed to my parents’ house. I told my mom, “Well, I met the man I’m gonna marry.” And sure enough, I did. :)

i basically didn’t want to hear “i love you” until he proposed or something. i think i had some serious issues/fears with those words. so after being together for about three years, fi couldnt take it anymore and just said it. i didnt protest. and a month later, he proposed :).

we were friend for four years but only got to see each other rarely (once or twice a year). i picked “first encounter” but that’s kind of false. it was the first encounter where we were both single and the first time it went farther than just being friends (just a kiss!)

i knew when i met him that i loved him…just didn’t know what kind of love it would be. took me a few years to work that one out : )

Not trying to out-”I love you” anyone, but I think we take the cake…

We met in Jan. and were friends (very very close friends, who were obviously attracted to each other) for a couple months. Once we started dating, we said “I love you” within three days. And within two weeks we were talking about marriage, albeit behind the phrase “I want to talk about the thing we won’t let ourselves talk about.” :-D We waited until we’d been together for 4 months to get engaged, heheh.

Now we’ve been together for a year and a half. :-) Still not a long time at all, but we love it :-)
