Twinkling Lights Galore!

November 17th, 2006 @ 3:11 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Yesterday while I was in class I got a phone call, from my dad. He usually just emails instead of calling, so I was a little concerned–I thought someone was sick or something. But I had to wait until class was over before I could take the call.

As soon as I got out of class I called him back, and we had the following conversation:

Blueberry: Hi! What’s up? Is everybody OK?
Dad: I was just at Kmart and they have white twinkle lights for $3.99/package. How many packages should we get for the ballroom and garden room and parlor?
Blueberry: Oh wow! Uh…we need XXX feet.
Dad: Oh, and I checked–they’re on a white cord instead of a green cord. So you won’t see any ugly green cord behind the tulle. Wal-Mart has them cheaper but with a green cord, and I know you wouldn’t want that.
Blueberry: Dad, now you’re thinking like a wedding planner!

:D:D:D:D

I’m roping my entire family into the process!

Is your whole family becoming obsessed with wedding planning, too?

Mine loves the wedding stuff. I’m going with FMIL to the Bridal Expo on Sunday, and my dad loves to look up wedding stuff for me, too. My aunt bought a ton of stuff for the wedding, some before we were engaged. My mom is bringing over cake pictures, and my cousins are showing me favors and telling me what kind of cake they like. :) I like it.

Awww, too cute Miss Blueberry!!! That is literally just about the least likely conversation I can EVER imagine with my dad! :-) But my mom loves talking about the wedding!!

I am not what you would call “officially engaged”. But my family knows it is coming… and they’ve already put their two cents in. But I am not letting them put their twenty cents in if you know what I mean… I want it to be my day, not theirs.

My family isn’t very involved in the wedding process, I wish they were. :(

My parents are pretty much in charge of the Chinese banquet we’re having (because they know how it supposed to go). But our destination wedding ceremony is all me. My family and his keep asking if they can help but I really don’t have anything to think about or do right now.

No : ( my family just listnes and provides advice when asked. Except, check this out! When I called my parents a couple days ago on the 15th my dad answered. I said, hey, how ya doing and he said, “happy 10 months to go!” I couldn’t believe it! I didn’t know he was so on top of things! Haha! It’s probably becuase he’s counting down the days until he has to pay the next reception installment, but hey! It was very cool to have my dad wish me happy 10 months to go. LOL

My mom is really starting to get into it — I think she tries not to show it, but she’s really excited. :) As for my dad, he is looking forward to being actively involved in choosing our reception menu. Hehe.

My mom is really into it…She is always coming up with ideas, which I welcome because sometimes I don’t have time to think of them! My sister and my dad…not so much. They give advice when asked, but that’s about it.

That is the cutest Dad conversation! It’s great that your dad was doing twinkle light research for you :)

I found the perfect candles last year right after Christmas (red and white glitter candles from Bath and Body) and we bought out the ones where I live and where my parents live. We still didn’t have enough, so my aunt mailed a box of them from 4 malls in Houston!
