Pashminas

November 21st, 2006 @ 11:49 pm by Mrs. Bee

I loved the pashminas the bridesmaids/bridesmaids of honor wore in the Martha’s Vineyard wedding Mr. Bee and I attended in September. I bet they made for great group pictures and of course they’re also the perfect evening wrap!

they have pashminas in NY for $5 each, and can probably be bargained for much less in bulk! of course, the quality probably isn’t as great, but the value of “the look” would be priceless!

these aren’t techinically pashminas if they are made of Viscose. pashmina is the (persian??) word for cashmere.

pashmina’s are made from the super soft wool of the Capra Hircus goat’s under belly. the wool is collected and then spun into cashmere + then woven into a pashmina. =) Just fyi!

I bought 6 pashminas in Chinatown (NY) today for $3.33 each. I know, they’re peobably not as quality as the ones on the website, but they feel nice and are a great inexpensive gift.

pashmina

The orange pashminas at your Martha’s Vineyard wedding work really well, giving some of the darker dresses a real pop. It’s quite tough to find a brilliant white pashmina in pure cashmere for the bride, due to the natural color of the cashmere fibre.
