I’m tagging onto Miss Kiwi’s previous post Season of Giving. I received the best gift ever last year. Mr. Violet and I had “promised” each other not to exchange gifts last year so that we could save money. I wasn’t expecting anything until he pulled out a box for me. The box was very light. I opened it to find a purple collar in there.
Knowing how much I love dogs and have always wanted one, you’d think that I was super thrilled. Instead, I was mad. We had always talked about getting a dog, but agreed to wait until we could afford the expenses of owning a dog. So when he pulled out a collar, I thought it was a bad idea. But then we started visiting North Shore and seeing all those cute puppies changed my mind. We adopted Sammantha (nickname: Sam) on New Year’s Eve.

This year we’ve decided that we are going to have a $25 limit policy. It’s actually much harder than you’d expect. It has to be thoughtful yet inexpensive. Since I’m crafty, I can always make him something and call it a day, but I’ve made him a lot of things already (a mosaic frame, scrapbook pages, polymer clay animals, knitted a scarf, cards, etc.) So now I’ve decided to buy him one or a few thoughtful gifts that are under budget. He’s a computer geek, loves gadgets and baseball, so everything he likes is expensive! Any ideas? This will definitely be a challenge.
Are you setting a Christmas budget or are you going all out?
