About Mrs. Lime

Most likely because all I really have to do for others’ is show up and enjoy, not plan the whole shebang. I am sure my day will be lovely when it finally rolls around, but I’ve been stuck in a wedding planning rut. Despite all your helpful comments and votes on my color scheme post, I still am not too much closer to making a decision on that. I’ve since polled my co-workers, Mr. Lime a few times, my graphic designer roommate, and a few other friends. So many conflicting opinions…but I know it comes down to what I want and what will work best for us and our event.

Otherwise, I’ve been meeting with wedding coordinators and contacting caterers for quotes as well. For the most part, they have been excellent about follow-up; it’s me that’s been slacking. I think I know who I will be going with as far as a coordinator (more details to come), but I have not been so on top of it in the caterer search. Someone please kick me in the pants. Dang full-time + overtime job definitely gets in the way…

Anyway, I’m off to a rehearsal for my seventh wedding this year. I’ll have pictures to share at the end of the weekend, hopefully. Mr. Lime is the best man, and he’s been working on his speech for the past few days. I can’t wait to see him in a tux, as this guy NEVER dresses up if there is any way to get out of it.

It’s not the last wedding of the year for Mr. Limne and me yet. One more in December in which I am the guestbook/gift attendant, bringing the grand total to 8. Then we’ll have a little breather till the 5 or so, not including ours, coming up next year. We feel like we’re on the young side (both of us are 25, we’ll be 26 when we get married), but it seems everyone around us is getting married already. Granted, some of our friends are a bit older, but a lot of these newlyweds are our age or even younger.

How many weddings, on average, have you been invited to and/or attending per year?

i think choosing our color scheme was the most hardest decision. i literally couldn’t sleep at night because I’d be thinking about possible color schemes. Once I bought our BM dresses, it was too late to change my mind and it made things alot easier from that point forward.

Been invited to 2 overseas weddings this yr but couldn’t make either of them =(

the most i invited to was 3 in one year with the fourth the following year [i was a bridesmaid in that one]. i had a glut of weddings 4 years ago [when i was 21...talk about early marriages] and things have trickled down now. so far just one next year [my best friend! though my old college roomie is getting married next year too but just a month before my friend and i can't afford to go to both] and one in ‘08. whew.

We went to six this year and five last year, and one of us was in eight of these weddings. Prior to this, I’d only been to three other weddings in my life.

I think you are totally young. No offense to those who are even younger, but I’m of the opinion that people are better off getting married in their mid to late 20s to 30s. Anything earlier than that, well…you just don’t have that much life experience.

Don’t fret. Color scheme is difficult, and you already have a few of the most important things done (venue, photog, dress). You will figure it out. And, once you do, the rest is easy. I swear!

So here is your kick in the pants.

I’m almost 29, and the most weddings that I’ve ever been to in a year was 1. Many of my grad school friends either aren’t married, or were married when we became friends, and my friends from my youth got married anywhere from age 17 to a year or so ago, so everything was spread out.

They’ve also stuck with rather low-key weddings, so the couple of times that I was an attendant really wasn’t such a big expense.

I’ve actually only been to 2 weddings in my life…one when I was younger, and didn’t even know who they were, and my Mom’s at the courthouse in 2005.

I’m young (20), and don’t have many friends…heh. So I doubt I’ll ever get invited to a slew of weddings like that. One of my friends is getting engaged within the next year or so, but that’s the only one that I know of for right now…heh.

not very many, actually. I’m 23 and went to 4 weddings in the past year and a half or so. I know things are going to pick up really soon, though, because 5 people I know pretty well have gotten engaged in the past month and there are several more whose engagements are iminent. Knowing them, they’ll have big weddings so I’ll more likely than not be going. :P

As for the color scheme, I’m in a conundrum as well. Today, I decided teal, pink, and brown. But then I keep thinking maybe black instead of brown, and then I think: pink, orange, and brown would be nice, too. The funny thing is that we haven’t even set a date yet, so it’ll have to wait anyway. It’s just so hard not to think about! :D

I’ve been to 6 weddings this year. Definitely the most i’ve ever been to in one year. One was married at the age of 24 and he was a male friend of mine. Definitely not to many of those scenarios out there.
