‘Zilla Loves Details!

November 27th, 2006 @ 3:55 pm by Mrs. Pearl

Every wedding-obsessed (bordering on hyper-obsessed bridezilla) woman can feel my pain when I say the words “reception details.” All the small things we sweat over, thinking (or hoping) that people notice. Will they care if my chiavari chair pad covers match the napkins? How about silver chargers? Certainly they care that I so carefully and meticulously tie ribbon bows on the napkins or even the fold of the napkin.

I confess, I had one of those bordering-on-bridezilla moments when talking to our catering manager at the Ritz. I wanted our napkins folded into a three pleat fold to tuck the menus in. No, not one fold, not two, but three. And yes, I felt myself snapping over it. Another snap moment was over placecards. I went to Paper Source and got placecards in Blossom, Luxe Blush, and Luxe Cream. Each color would denote a different entree. The catering manager tried to talk me about of having two different types of pink cards and I practically flipped out (via email) that I wanted what I had selected. At that moment, you could almost picture the veil-wearing giant lizard stomping down the road.

And yet, I haven’t learned my lesson! Other details that I love and want to incorporate:

Candy buffet…of course, in the wedding colors (pink, brown, and cream)

Tray passed champagne, complete with a raspberry in every glass
'Zilla Loves Details! : wedding los angeles reception Brown2 brown2.jpg

Gathered table linen edges (brown on top, pink on the bottom)
'Zilla Loves Details! : wedding los angeles reception Brown3 brown3.jpg

Mahogany chiavari chairs with pink chiavari chair pads and pink napkins

Napkin fold (but with two more folds)

PS: I promise I’m really a nice person, but wedding planning totally brings out the anal detailed part of my personality. :)

My mantra is ‘no one will care about it as much as I do’. I swear it’s saving me thousands of dollars, and it’s pretty much true.

It’s probably better that you’re detail oriented. I used to work in catering and the more anal the client was, the less likely the crew was to F-up because the manager, in turn, gave more instruction/details in order to have the event meet the client’s specifications. Scary client during planning = really, really scary client if you F up their event!

Love your new icon Miss Pearl. It reminds me of the beach. That got me thinking, the next batch of weddingbee icons (after gemstones) can be beach-related - coral, starfish, sand dollar, conch shell, etc. Hehe..sorry for going off topic.

I am confused about this wedding planning business, so I don’t have enough knowledge to be anal. With the pink and brown color scheme, will the tuxes be brown?
