Programs

November 28th, 2006 @ 12:50 pm by Mrs. Pearl

Though we wanted a bit of an antique, vintage feel for the wedding, I felt inspired to do something a little bit quirky and different for the programs. They’re pretty much a necessity for us since we’re having a Greek Orthodox wedding, which is unfamiliar to all of my family and most of our friends.

I came across the print for the Making Memories Cosmopolitan collection and was excited to see so much pink, cream, and brown in one place :). Some of the funky prints are vintage-inspired, but are also good for a modern touch. The Cosmopolitan collection comes in pink and brown or blue and brown.

Cosmopolitan’s various prints

We’ll be doing programs with all these various prints to give programs a sense of continuity without being matchy-matchy.

After I made this, I decided to purchase a corner rounder (Marvy punch…about $5 or so) to see if it would look better. (Un)fortunately it did, so that just makes more work for me to round all the corners of the cardstock :).

The ribbon I used is about 1″ double faced satin. In making the real programs, I’d likely stick to the same size because I like the size of the ribbon at the side of the program. I might need to twist it inside the program to make it lay more flat.

I used Bickham Swash Caps for the capital letters in the headings, Beautiful ES (a knockoff of Bickham) for the lower case letters in the headings, and Bernhard Fashion BT for the text of the document (though we might change it to Garamond or something).

I’m using the 6″x6″ version of that cardstock for my sister’s bridal shower invitations. :) I was actually inspired by the lovely Pam, who posted above me, via her knot bio.

I bought Miss Strawberry that paper book from Paper Zone, because those are her colors and she was looking for some fun prints, too. :-) Your programs look great!

I used regular paper to print the sample, but I plan to print the inner pages on Paper Source Luxe Blush or Luxe Cream paper.

kp, unfortunately I don’t know where the program is right now (I took that pic a long time ago), but the inside is basically an explanation of Greek Orthodox wedding ceremonies. If you want a copy of the program text (should you need it), I’d be more than happy to send it to you.

Where did you buy the paper? Online or in a store?

I bought the cardstock online — one set from Ebay and OneCraftyMama.com.

Depending on how much paper you need, it may be cheaper to use another site (when you add up all the shipping charges and what not). It was between OneCraftyMama and MisterArt.com for the cardstock.

I bought the Paper Source paper from the store in Beverly Hills. The Luxe Blush paper is really pretty, textured paper…but be sure you’re printing on an inkjet printer because, as the salesperson told me, they can’t guarantee it’ll print on laser jet printers.
