The problem with planning a wedding over the course of a year and some months is that you change your mind often. My latest “brilliant” idea is to incorporate birds into our shabby chic theme.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. Of course I won’t be using all of these…it’s too late! I thought maybe someone else could benefit from my tardy, yet cute bird theme. 
For the bathrooms: Robbin’s Egg Soap from Romantic Flowers.
In centerpieces: Love Doves from Romantic Flowers.

Invitations: From Ille Custom Invitations.
Vintage Postcards for Save the Dates or Table Numbers.
Stamps for various wedding projects. I used these on my english crackers. Sharkyinnc used them on her crafts as well.

I think the cake would be nicer if the birds weren’t caged in. (they’re free and open as opposed to jailed in) =P The bird theme would def. complement your shabby chic theme.
I am doing a bird theme as well based off my invites from Hello Lucky. Beau Coup sells birds nest favors for your robin’s egg soap or almond dragees. Thanks for all the inspiration pics and links.
Love it, love it, love it. I’m in Australia - our wedding (next week !) also has a pale blue and chocolate brown theme and I’ve used the Cavallini stamps a lot throughout. Our gift tags are very very similar - can’t believe I’ve only just found this now. Beautiful.
I too am having a bird theme! I have the same bird stamp kit and love it - will use it for the place cards. I am also having birds in my invitation (although I didnt use Hello Lucky, which are adorable!). I want to use the little millinery birds as centerpieces on the tables, but realize now that they need to actually be stuck in something! Any ideas much appreciated!
Our theme is Vintage Botanica - we’ve used birds throughout - I’ve used the Cavallini stamps and our colours are also chocolate brown and pale blue.
I love it so much - perfect!

Did anyone experience difficulties with the stamps shown above? I could use some tips to get them to look better!

A re-creation (by the same cake designer) of the Martha Stewart cake was featured as one of the Real Weddings on theknot.com - Jessica and David, Bedminster, NJ. Both are sooo cute.
I’m leaning towards having a bird theme as well! If you don’t mind my asking, where did you get that bird graphic at the beginning of your post? I’d love to photoshop it and use it for my invitations/programs.
You know I have no idea where the graphic came from…I had it saved on my desktop from a while ago. Sorry!

I am doing a nature/rustic chic wedding theme and I’ve used nest clipart from MS word for head table placecards and I have two flower girls that will be carrying little baskets with spanish moss and birds nests (Marjolein Bastin through Hallmark). My card box will be covered in moss and have a little bird house and mini birds perched on top. I did bubble magnets (glass half marbles) as my favour but at the time I didn’t think of birds so I just did a flower theme from scrapbook paper but no reason why a bird themed scrapbook paper wouldn’t work!
any one have any idea how the martha stewart lace looking luminaries were done? are they diy at all or can i buy them somewhere? any help would be greatly appreciated!
Give the decorations at your wedding reception the romantic look of lace. The intricate patterns shining through these luminarias (paper-bag lanterns illuminated by votive candles) are courtesy of doilies glued inside. Place a grouping of the lanterns in different sizes on the guest-book table or dinner tables for a beautiful, glowing display. We chose ivory paper bags for an understated look, but you can use thin paper bags in any light color. Set the candles in heavy-glass votive holders to help anchor the bags.
Tools and Materials
Light-colored paper lunch bags in various sizes
Ruler
Scalloped rotary cutter
12-inch gold-colored doilies (white ones won’t show through as well)
Utility knife
Scissors
Glue stick or Xyron sticker-making machine
Votive candles in glass holders
Utility lighter
Luminarias How-To
1. Lay each bag flat; use a ruler to guide the scalloped rotary cutter as you cut a new top edge 1 inch below the bag’s original edge.
2. To cut doilies to fit the bag, lay a bag flat on the work surface. Lay a doily on the bag, and determine where to cut in order to create a pleasing design. Cut straight lines with a ruler and a utility knife; use scissors to snip along curves. The final size of the doily should be 1/8 inch narrower than the width of the bag so the doily will lay flat inside.
3. Coat the gold side of the doily generously with glue from the glue stick, or coat it with self-adhesive using the Xyron machine. Attach doily to the inside of the front of the bag, positioning it as desired. After gluing, close the bag, and run your hand firmly over the design to seal. Open the bag, and let dry at least 1 hour.
4. Set the bag in desired location, and then put the votive candle, in its holder, inside. Light the wick once the candle holder has been securely placed; do not carry the lit luminaria.
