Who Knew!?

November 29th, 2006 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Strawberry

I just learned about bouquet preservation. Who knew?! I certainly had no idea. I thought that once your wedding day was over, you said “bye-bye” to your flowers. But nooooo! You can preserve them for a lifetime by freeze drying them! I’m uber excited.

Infinity bouquets is just one such site that provides bouquet preservation. You can place your bouquet, your garter, a sample invitation, with a few photos in a shadow box to really capture the day. This would make a great gift as well!

I have to admit that usually anything “preserved” (bouquets, dresses, etc) kind of creeps me out, although the pic here doesn’t look too bad. I just took a look at their ketubah preservation which seems like a good idea–adding things like the broken glass, the cup, etc on the inside of the shadow box.

I’ve seen things like that in person and I agree, they’re creepy. A friend’s grandmother used to press flowers and then make a picture including the pressed flowers and the wedding invite. That was really pretty although only some flowers work well for pressing. I was very sad to leave my bouquet behind but since it was all dark colored calla lillies there wasn’t much I could think to do with it.

I don’t think those are creepy at all! I actually really love this idea…I love captureing things like this, I think it really makes it easier to remember the day! Great idea!

yes. Creepy. Very, very creepy. I think the whole “putting them in glass thing” gives it the taxidermy effect. But, y’know, whatever floats one’s boat.
