Beehive

November 30th, 2006 @ 2:09 pm by Beehive

In today’s hive:

  • Keri is getting married in late April and her bridesmaids are wearing navy blue, springish style dresses. Her wedding is at the beach and she’s wondering what a good complementary color would be?
  • Aleta was planning on buying a wedding organizer, but yesterday’s open question piqued her interest. She’s wondering if the readers can share where they found all their checklists, timelines, planning info, etc.?

To add your question to the beehive, leave a comment below and we’ll update this post to include your question. See all past beehives here.

Hi Keri - I would go for a very pale aqua. I think it will be gorgeous!

Keri: How about like pastel or lighter yellow?

Somewhere on the Martha Stewart wedding site there is a planner you can printout. I found it pretty helpful.

A wedding organizer is definitely helpful but you can easily make one yourself by going to an office supply store and getting a binder (i recommend 2″ or larger-you’ll collect a lot of stuff), dividers, sleeves/folders (to store your clippings and notes), and if you don’t already have a 3 hole punch. That way you can start out with your own organization style and not someone else’s.

I also found that timelines vary depending on the source. I saw such variations between magazines and publications that I was confused. I later realized that they aren’t realistic because each person’s wedding/issues are different. So use your computer and create your own or photocopy the one that best suits you from the source.

I started out with a prefabricated organizer, it worked wonderfully in the beginning, but then our wedding plans changed drastically and I had to ditch it completely and created my own (1 for our destination wedding and 1 for our hometown reception).

Keri,

Lime green and Navy look AMAZING together! Very beach preppy/cool :)

Lavender will go well with the navy blue. It’s also a nice pastel accent since your wedding is in the springtime. Aqua/light turquoise will also looks nice as well and complement your beach theme!

I think I am doing a shade of blue (a little lighter than Navy) with pink. I considered doing all-blue (i.e. Navy and aqua) but was worried about finding blue flowers that I liked.

Of course, the Knot, and WeddingChannel have interactive checklists, and timelines. I know you can probably get lots of stuff from About.com…they have everything, I swear. But like someone mentioned, Martha Stewart’s website has some good stuff! And usually, you can buy a bridal magazine, and they’ll have checklists…not so sure about timelines. I’d say just google it. :)

Actually, I went and Googled, and found a great resource!
http://www.blissweddings.com/library/checklists.asp

They have a PDF file of an entire wedding planner, and it looks like it’s chock full of wedding planning lists/etc, like you’d find in a store…print out, put in a binder, and you’re set!

And just because I can’t stop commenting, that site also has a PDF Bridesmaids guide as well…along with budgeting worksheets, and questions to ask your florist, baker, photographer, etc. Totally going in my bookmarks!

I’m done now. :P

Hello-

I’m in the process of choosing a photographer for my wedding and was wondering if anyone can help with these questions…About how much did you spend on your photographer? How many images did they take, how long was their service, proof/wedding/parent albums included? Much appreciated.
