About Mrs. Plumeria

Dear Google,

November 30th, 2006 @ 8:33 am by Mrs. Plumeria

You are my hero.

Love, Miss Plumeria

~~~
I recently discovered Google’s new Docs and Spreadsheets service. Many of my friends and I already hail Gmail as the best email service ever made, and Google just keeps outdoing itself!
With new Docs and Spreadsheets Beta, a user can create and edit documents and spreadsheets, all online. The final version is stored online, like a saved email, so it’s essentially a “live” document that can be updated and saved from any computer that has internet access, without having to download and upload any files! You can add “collaborators” who can access and edit the document as well, invite viewers to see it, and host live chats while viewing it. For those addicted to Word and Excel, you can export any Google document or spreadsheet as a PDF, Word, or Excel file and work on it from your computer if you choose. You can also upload existing documents so you have a working copy online!
I have now implemented this newfound tool into my planning process, and I love it already…
This way, I can keep Mr. Plumeria as a collaborator, be assured that he is completely up-to-date with all of the wedding plans, and we can both edit the spreadsheet as things happen. Another document I’m in the process of making is a bridal party contact list, since we have many people involved all over California. Once I have that in place, I can add all of them as viewers so they have easy access to everyone else involved, and if there’s a change, I can easily alter the document and know all of them can see it without ever having to send out multiple emails!
This a great tool for planning, and it’s free! :)
We used Google spreadsheets for our invite list. It allowed both of us to update it and always be up to date about our RSVP count and then later the gifts that had come in and which thank you notes were outstanding.
my husband (oooh, scary word) and i are seriously thinking about sending a thank you note to google. because we could not have pulled it off without.
we had one giant spreadsheet with a gazillion tabs - budget, to-do list, day of contact list, schedule, guest list, seating chart, must take photos, lists of things to bring to rehearsal, ceremony, reception and gift tracker.
it was a godsend since one of my moh lives in paris. the entire wedding was planned using that spreadsheet, gmail, and a shared google calendar.
love love love
Awesome idea! I never thought to use it that way. Looks like we can all argue about the guestlist via spreadsheet… hehe.
