I’m feeling a bit sad at the moment. I had my second dress fitting earlier today and I was excited about trying on my wedding dress with some of the alterations complete. I had my spanx gear on, bridal shoes ready, and camera set to take pictures. You know how you read that girls get giddy over seeing themselves in their wedding dresses? Well, I didn’t.
Maybe white isn’t a color that complements me or maybe I just don’t look good in a big poofy white dress with little sparkles on it. Who chose this color anyway? I mean, I am a little bit of a tomboy but I thought all girls looked beautiful in their wedding dresses? I just didn’t feel like I looked my very best. Maybe I should just wear jeans and a tshirt since I am that type of girl - casual. Maybe I chose the wrong dress? But that can’t be, my MOH and I loved it when I tried it on the very first time. I really did feel beautiful in it then.
But now, I just don’t know. I wanted to take off my dress so fast after my alteration lady made her adjustments. I felt myself critiquing every flaw in my body - wishing I was just a couple of inches taller, or my hips a little wider so my waist could look slimmer, or my hair 5 inches longer. Damn, you wedding magazines - you’ve warped my image of beauty - I am no model!
Oh my - I cannot believe that I am back already from my honeymoon. And I’m actually sitting in class as I write this.
Anyway, our honeymoon was absolutely wonderful. I spent a lot of time sleeping in, while my husband worked on his school papers and presentations. Yes, we were working while on our honeymoon. Well, he was working - I procrastinated.
Our first three nights were spent at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Lately I’ve been stressing out about a few things: the dress, invites, flowers and MUSIC. Why is it so hard for me to choose our first dance, father/daughter, ceremony music?
I think it’s partially due to the fact that we’re such music people. I played the violin and Mr. Kiwi loves to play the guitar. So I know that whenever I hear the song I choose, I’ll think of our wedding. The songs have to be a perfect mixture of emotions we’re trying to convey. Man, that is a lot to ask for in a song, right?
Regarding the first dance: This is a very special dance for me because it will be not only our first dance as husband and wife, but also our first dance of any kind ever. We’ve never so much as swayed together. Being 5 feet tall, and Mr. Kiwi a whopping 14 inches taller at 6′2″, it’ll be awkward at worst, entertaining at best.
I love these bow earrings from Vera Wang.
They are a little out of my price range, to say the least…as most baubles are. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be mine. Maaa haaa haa. (Evil laughter.)
There are lots of alternative sites for getting designer knock offs or even the real thing. At Bag Borrow or Steal, you too can be the owner of many fabulous pieces. Or should I say, renter? You can “borrow” jewelry and purses by the week or month. These earrings can be borrowed for $265 a week or $795 a month! Danger! Even that might be out of my price range! ![]()

Of all the decisions I’ve had to make during the wedding planning process, flowers have been the most difficult. Maybe it’s because flowers are something that everyone notices and comments on. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen rooms that have been transformed by decor. Maybe it’s becaues Mr. Pearl doesn’t give a hoot about flowers, so all the decisions are mine? But the flowers have pained me more than all the other decisions combined. I change my mind all the time about what I want, but what has remained constant is that I want:
1. Rhinestone accents
2. Fluffy flowers (peonies, hydrangea, lisianthus) and calla lillies
3. Ostrich feathers/plumes
Since our last florist went crazy-go-nuts, I figured that I’d take a chance and meet with a high end florist here in LA. I figured that at minimum, I’d get a better idea of what I could do with another florist if I couldn’t afford them. I met with Luna Gardens and discussed my ideas. One of the bright spots was that the woman told me they could do peonies for my bouquet, which I really wanted!! We also discussed decor like linens, chairs, and lighting. Mr. Pearl and I planned to have all those things and planned to get them from the Ritz, but it never hurts to price check.
Thanks so much for all your feedback on the new Mrs. Bee character! Character #1, as you see above, was the overwhelming reader favorite. I asked Irene, our very talented artist, to do a couple of variations on the bee based on reader suggestions: blue wings, a flying trail, black antenna, etc.
The first column bees are simple, the second column bees have gradient color, the third column bees have a flying trail, and the fourth column bees have a heart trail.

Inspired by Mrs. Bee’s post after her wedding, here’s my little wedding list of our good wedding decisions.
1-Mr. BOP and I took some “us time” after the rehearsal dinner. Everyone wanted us to hang out/go out/enjoy ourselves with all the other wedding guests, but we declined. We are SOOO glad we did. It was probably the BEST decision we made overall. We changed out of our dress clothes, got into our pj’s, chatted and were us for a moment. This was important because we both felt like we were losing the “normal us” in the midst of the chaos the week before the wedding. After taking a moment with each other, we decided to exchange our wedding gifts that night. This leads us right to #2.
2-Mr. BOP and I decided last minute to exchange our wedding gifts the night before the wedding in private together, instead of the next day apart from each other. This was really nice because we got to see each other’s reactions. Plus, we got to explain the significance of our gifts right then and there and in person. It was truly wonderful.
In a previous post today, I posted a picture/mockup of my letterpress invitation. For those of you who wanted to know more information about the stationer, her name is Tracy Lazaro.

She’s relatively new and is a small press owner, but designs beautiful and reasonably-priced letterpress, flat print, and thermography invitations and other stationery items.
Mrs. Bee here.
Now’s your chance to brag about your significant other.
What do I love best about Mr. Bee? He’s so understanding, kind, generous, dependable, optimistic, rational and super smart. Meanwhile I’m crazy, irrational, pessimistic… He’s my perfect balance and he keeps me sane - relatively.
What do you love best about your partner?
Update: Several readers have tried the Old Navy coupon and said that it didn’t work. Although the Gap and Banana Republic sales don’t start until later this week, I’m assuming that they don’t work either.
Sorry guys!
But the Macy’s and Lord & Taylor coupons below should still work - Macy’s starts tomorrow and L&T on Thursday.

Guess what I just got?

Oh yes, I likes me’s new Ultrasonic :D. I put a couple drops of dish soap in with the tap water, gave my e-ring about 6 minutes in the thing, and it came out just as sparkly as it looks when I get it cleaned at the jewelry store!
I have been very indecisive about a lot of things for the wedding, including our centerpieces. Please take the poll and help the Orange —
My color scheme is pink, brown, gold/champagne and ivory.

All the prayers, wishes and good thoughts for a non-rainy wedding day truly paid off! The forecast went from a solid week of rain to 0% chance of rain on our day. It was 72 degrees and unbelievably perfect! It was one of those elusive days where it wasn’t too hot or too cold regardless if guests were in long sleeves or short. There were guests enjoying the sun and guest enjoying the shade just the same. At one point during our reception, I looked up and there was not a cloud in the sky! Here’s proof, taken before our arrival at the reception.
