Charity Begins @ Home

December 1st, 2006 @ 11:32 am by Mrs. Orange

A friend of Mr. Orange recently gave us a gift with a card — a UNICEF card! UNICEF’s online shop has a wide variety of holiday cards, but they also carry a very nice selection of blank cards that can be used in your everyday greetings (like wedding thank you cards!). I was really touched to know that this couple supported such a good cause.

Do you have a favorite charity shop? Right now I’m eyeing the brownies from God’s Love We Deliver (an organization that provides meals for people living with AIDS, cancer and other serious diseases).

Are you planning on incorporating any charities into your wedding?

Oh Miss Peach — Can’t wait to see your post.

Using the link through Weddingchannel.com, I think they donate to the charity of choice as well. We chose Habitat for Humanity :)

oxfam! http://www.oxfamamericaunwrapped.com/ you can buy a goat or sheep or something of the like to needy countries all over the world in someone else’s name as a gift.

so it doesn’t directly go towards purchasing one goat or one sheep but at least you get the idea of what you’re contributing towards in a gift card with a picture of the “gift” and description of why it’s needed in certain countries (as well as your own personal message on it). it’s a nice visual and something you can hand to someone to represent the gift of giving. much better than a fruitcake or another blender!

i’m going to be doing that for some of the people in my life for the holidays this year and it was especially fun because I got to pick things that have special inside jokes/meaning to us. i’ll probably include with the gift card a small stuffed animal representing the gift as well.
