OK well *I* won’t travel, but I need one who will. Oh, and one who is adept at working with women of various ethnicities. I am mixed black and white, as is my sister who is my maid of honor. We both have non-standard hair…both very long (around mid-back at least). My friend Jenn is my bridesmaid and she is Asian and Caucasian, mixed with some Hawaiian, I believe.
A lot of the pictures of black women I’ve seen don’t take long hair into account or the makeup has them going away looking like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show. For those who follow the wedding industry (because let’s be honest, we all do, right?!), I had a fabulous hair and makeup artist secured…until she went crazy-go-nuts and moved to Maine. Yeah…still working on getting that $700 back!
Why can’t I look like this every day???
i have a friend who’s an amazing makeup artist and actually specializes in doing black makeup (she’s worked on a lot of films and music videos). unfortunately she’s moving from la to atlanta in the next couple of months. would you like me to ask her for a referral?

btw is that a tess hair and makeup trial? she really is talented.. it’s a shame what happened because she did an amazing job!

Wow, you look FAB! One of my black friends is AWESOME at doing her makeup…unfortunately, she’s not really a makeup artist or anything…but she never looks over the top…I’ve tried to do her makeup for her before and failed miserably.

Mrs. Bee: YES!!! Please ask her for a referral. I have some names of LA hair and makeup folks, but I’m interested in possibly gaining some new names! And yes, that was a Tess…she even took these pics for me. It’s really a shame.
Tea: See, you can really relate then A lot of people tell me NYC would be a good place for me because the Dominican hair places would probably know how to work well with the texture of my hair. Alas, I just get to visit and pine for real big city living!
