About Mrs. Emerald

I saw this cake on Carmelbride2006’s bio this morning, and it was like love at first site!! *BAM!* I emailed these pix to the fiancee, and he totally agrees!! YAY!! Unfortunately, we will be doing nothing cake-related for another few months… our venue outsources their cakes and is currently trying to choose a new bakery to be their exclusive vendor. So until they decide on one, we’re kind of left hanging. Boooo! I’m so looking forward to cake tastings!

I’ve always known that I wanted a dark chocolate ganache cake (chocoholic here), but was unsure about shape, decor, etc., but this is it!! Although I’m sure the fondant (or royal icing? gumpaste?) flowers are expensive, so perhaps we’ll substitute with fresh red and pink mokara orchids to give a similar delicate feel. *sigh* YUMMAY!!

CarmelBride2006 is my site twin! Hahaha, how funny seeing her bio on this site. I agree - her cake is amazing. The baker/designer is Marina Sousa at Just Cake (who made Jen & Brad’s cake before moving north to the Bay Area and who has one several Food Network wedding cake challenges). Carmelbride has one of my favorite bios - she has exquisite taste!

you can buy sugar paste flowers online, if having your baker do them gets too pricey. i think someone posted here about it before.

beautiful cake! my favorite ‘frosting’ ever is chocolate ganache. looks so yummy and elegant.

Miss Emerald - that’s my cake baker!!!! :) Marina is absolutely amazing! I can’t have my tasting/planning appointment until all of the other wedding details are decided — but I can’t wait!
