Visions of Flowers

December 4th, 2006 @ 7:16 pm by Mrs. Emerald

A couple of weeks ago we had our first meeting with a potential florist Charalali. I’m sooo sooo excited about flowers. Bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, oh my!

Here are some of the things we discussed… (please let me know if I’m using any of your images.)

Ok this one is just in my dreams.

Maybe something like this, but still less dense…

This is what I envision for my bouquet - dark red. Unfortunately my bubble was burst when she told me that peonies don’t exist anywhere in the world in September, not even in New Zealand!! She suggested using a few silk peonies in there for a similar effect, which I think is pretty brilliant! If done well, I think it could totally blend in.

For my Ladies in Waiting, a small clutch of calla lilies - ivory ones for 3 of my bridesmaids, and pink for my maid and matron of honor.

I love the whole orchid-in-water look… it’s so dramatic!! Maybe something like this for the guestbook/placecard table.

I plan to rent chocolate brown linens like this, and want the deep red centerpieces. Unfortunately, I asked FI if we could rent chivari chairs too for an extra $1300, and he gave his executive veto. (Yes, he knows chivari chairs look like, I trained him well!)

I want the whole high and low centerpiece mix, so these are a few of the ones charalali will price out for me.

Simple, elegant and striking…

I’m sure everyone has seen this pic a zillion times. We discussed using branches similarly, but this one looks too overgrown and huge to me, and would make conversing across the table difficult. But branches with hanging votives, and dangling orchid blossoms… ohhh, and it would be super cool to have it surrounded by a little bed of wheat grass too!!

Wheatgrass!!

This is similar to what I want for lows (except it doesnt have to be square) - just floating candles in a bowl surrounded by lush red flowers. (Not entirely roses, trying to stay away from roses if possible.)

I think this low centerpiece is also gorgeous… love the vibrant colors!

I also plan to have lots of votives wrapped in pretty vellum…

As for the groom, he’ll have an orchid bout, and for the other men, calla bouts. We all know what they look like hehe!

Norcal Knottie JoanneSF had orchids-in-water too, she used square vases of varying heights. I think she has some pics in bio still, last I saw them. They were gorgeous!=)

We have some similar ideas! Click on my name and see my post about votives and about centerpieces that are of grass. My bio on The Knot also have pics of the submerged centerpiece look. :-)

All of that is beautiful, though! Hopefully it all materializes. I need a florist so bad!
