About Mrs. Peach

1, 2, or 3?

December 5th, 2006 @ 9:33 am by Mrs. Peach

Mr. Peach and I finally got around to looking around for tuxes for him and his groomsmen. Now, I know how Mr. Peach felt when I used to show him millions of dress pictures and asked which styles he liked and disliked. After awhile, he said “I don’t know anymore… They all kinda look the same!”

This is how I felt about the tuxes - they were all black, with pockets, and buttons…I couldn’t really tell the difference between theTommy Hilfiger tux and the Kenneth Cole tux or any other one for that matter. If anything, the biggest difference that stood out to me was the number of buttons on the tuxes. Mr. Peach says he likes the 3 button one the best, but could go either 2 or 3. I am not sure if I like the 3 button one b/c it hides the vests the most, and at least for the groomsmen, I’d like to see the green color vest underneath their tuxes. But is it weird to have the groom and groomsmen wear different buttoned tuxes?

For your wedding, did/will your groom have 1, 2, or 3 buttons on his tux? Was there a particular reason why you/your groom made that choice? How about for the groomsmen’s tuxes?

Mr. Blueberry’s tux is actually a 4-button style since he’s long and lean. They say that a 2-button style looks best on men who are heavier, and 3-button looks OK on pretty much anybody.

we went with 2 button because its the most “modern” looking and is very classic. the 3 button hides the vest too much and can look “stuffy”, and the 1 button is too casual.

I think we will have 3 buttons, because Mr. Raspberry wants a very formal look and is refusing to have a colored vest.

3 button is most trendy now. i love the look and feel like the 2 button ones remind me of something my dad would wear.

My FH originally wanted a 4-button, but when he tried a few on he realized (what I’d been telling him!) that it just made him look shorter than his 5ft8in. We haven’t made our final selection but we’re probably going for the 3 button, and just something that’s pretty basic. Ours are wearing a tie only, and no vest, so that should work fine.

There was one of the ‘what not to wear’ books (american hosts) that actually had a section on men’s suits and body type/shape that could be really useful.

It’s your wedding so do whatever you want, even if it means the groom wears a 3 button and the groomsmen 2 button tux. I think it’d be nice for the groom to have a different “outfit” than the groomsmen - I mean we girls get to have ours different why not the men? I think the difference will be minor but it would very nice to have color peek out from the groomsmen as it the color will stand out in the bridesmaid dresses. Anyhow you get where I am going. :)

aside from modern or old fashioned, (looks like there are discrepancies) i heard a fitted 2 button looks better on a smaller leaner body and that a 3 button squares them up. and like the pps said - i think it depends on the persons body shape. different buttons/cuts flatter different body types. - might want to take mr. peach’s body type into consideration and look at the tuxes w/ a fresh eye!

my fiance bought a 3 button calvin klein tux. the 3 button is more formal and also lays better on the body than in 2 button (imo). he’ll be wearing a black vest and black bowtie.

My dad is wearing his two button suit and my FI and his groomsman are wearing a three button. Because that’s what my FI liked.

3 button is the most common/standard now, but 2 button will make them look taller. :)

we went with 2 button. we knew that’s what we wanted from the beginning. i find it slimming and like the deeper v it makes - shows off the vest more. and makes them look less stuffy. i find it a fresher, younger look. but, maybe it’s just me.

We thought that we had a bit of an issue b/c 2 of the GM have their own tux and wanted to wear it — we thought all the different styles would look odd but I don’t think anyone noticed since all the vests and ties matched. I think in the end everyone had a 2 button except for one GM who had a one button.
