Note to Self:

December 5th, 2006 @ 11:54 am by Mrs. Emerald

Stop reading wedding magazines before bed!

For the past few nights, I have been having a hard time falling asleep. It’s been taking me over an hour to finally pass out, and that is such a waste of precious time. The culprit? Wedding magazines! So instead of falling into my usual coma, I have all of these ideas and visions floating around in my head.

Last night I was reading Inside Weddings, which I picked up at Barnes for the first time. It was great in that it had tons of “Real Wedding” features which I love to look at for inspiration… but apparently these are the “real weddings” of like millionaires. *sigh* I wish I was of those people who could afford to spend $50Gs on flowers alone. And hire Preston Bailey to pimp out my venue. Or buy 3 dresses: a Monique, Vera and an Amsale. And have fireworks. Hehe. blush.gif

You can go here to check them out online.

Hehe I get the same way sometime, only mine is usually ideas for DIY and projects for others’ weddings :-P

I’ve found that it helps to get up and write it all down. But sometimes I start sketching…and writing…and then I don’t get back to sleep at all ;-P

Try soothing music set really low on a timer. It makes your brain focus on the music, instead of all the other thoughts, and helps you fall asleep. It’s the thing saving me while I write my thesis, othwerwise I’d never get to bed.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem. I’ve got wedding on the brain and a stack of wedding mags on my night stand. I’ve heard its a good idea to keep a note pad next to your bed to scribble ideas onto so they’re not in your head swimming around (same as Miss Blueberry’s suggestions). I’m a bit of a wedding mag addict, I’ve accidentaly bought the same mag twice in the same month. I just give the extras to my mom or sister.

sometimes i think we all wish we could have gazillions dollars and the most lavish of weddings. but it doesn’t mean that your marriage will last. amist all the fanciful thinking, you should try to keep in mind what’s really important about the wedding and not all the beautiful flowers, bling and whatever else you see in the all magazines.

EK… you are *absolutely* right… must… keep… my… priorities… in line!!! =) dang this wedding industry just keeps feeding brides what they *NEED* to have, when all you really need is your husband-to-be, family and friends!! (if only it were so easy, hehe)
