About Mrs. Blueberry

Confession

December 6th, 2006 @ 6:16 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

I’m afraid I haven’t been completely honest with my loyal readers. You may see me as a suave, worldly, mature woman. But in reality I’m immature and giggly and am frequently mistaken for a 13-year-old. And also, I’m a Star Wars fan.

It’s Mr. Blueberry’s fault, really. I’d only seen Ep. I and II casually, before we got together. One of our first dates was to see Ep. III, and shortly after that he insisted I see the original trilogy. And what can I say? As I fell in love with him, I fell in love with Darth Vader and Chewbacca (OK that didn’t quite come out right :D).

We’re trying to come up with some minor ways to incorporate our love of Star Wars into the wedding–we don’t want to go over-the-top or have anything that would be viable for “Wild Weddings,” but we would like to incorporate our favorite movie series somehow.

So we’re going to make our grand entrance at the reception to the Throne Room and End Title song from Ep. IV. And we’re going to have a Darth and Padme cake topper on the groom’s cake, or maybe Anakin and Amidala (yes they’re the same people :P). I’m not even wild enough to risk having those on the wedding cake. Plus, the groom’s cake is the one that allows you more room for fun ;).

Nony Mouse

I’m trying to convince my FI to make his entrance into the ceremony the music from Throne Room… he wants to use the Imperial March!

You could do your hair like princess Leia, two buns on each side. That’s subtle, right?

I went to a wedding once where a couple played the Star Wars theme after the I DOs. I thought that it was pretty funny and quirky…but its not something that I would ever do.

I too have fallen to the ways of FI’s Star Wars childhood nostalgia. How about light sabor favors? Or you could have your ringbearer dressed as an ewok. Tell me that wouldn’t be adorable! Who doesn’t love an ewok?

Katy, that would be adoable! Too funny! The ringbearer would totally steal the show. However… being a pretty, shiny bride and being upstaged by a child dressed as a furry little teddy bear creature is probably not something most women’s egos could handle with dignity. ^_^

Yay for Star Wars fans! I am also a huge fan but I haven’t given much thought to how I might incorporate it into a wedding. I know people who have gotten married in Jedi robes, but that is *so* not subtle, lol.

I like the cake topper idea, that’s really cute. What are you doing for table numbers? Maybe you could use Star Wars images there. Plastic lightsabers would be a lot of fun, I think, similar to what katy said. Haul them out halfway through the dancing and let people play. That could make for some cute pictures. :)

That’s so funny, my FI is a huge Star Wars fan, he wants to use the Throne Room music as a recessional. May not happen on the beach, but we’ll probably incorporate into the reception, entrance song is a great idea!

Andrew & I will probably have LOADS of personal touches. We are totally NOT going traditional…I want (probably) a red or dark blue dress, we’re going to have just a chocolate cake, and it’s just going to be different! :)

My new husband (we just got married Nov. 25) is a huge Star Wars fan. At our reception his cousins did a skit for him based on his favorite childhood characters. One of his cousins came in as Yoda and another one came in as Darth Vader. They then proceeded to have a lightsaber battle in the middle of the dance floor. It ended with Barney coming out to have Yoda and Darth Vader make up and be friends. Everyone was dying of laughter - he and I were close to rolling around on the floor we were laughing so hard! I’m not sure you want to be that crazy in incorporating Star Wars into your wedding but it was great!!! Definitely the most talked about part of the reception.
