Faux Fur Capelet Giveaway

December 7th, 2006 @ 6:41 pm by Contests

Mrs. Butterfly here.

I’m giving away some items from my wedding! I promise they are all in good condition and have only been used once!

wrap3.jpg

wrap.jpg wrap2.jpg

This faux fur capelet was one of the best purchases that I made. It wasn’t freezing on my wedding day, however, it was pretty cold outside. This capelet kept me warm and it came out great in pictures! The size is an extra small, which translates into size 2 to 4. The color is off-white, but it went great with my ivory wedding dress, and I can only assume it would go amazing with a white dress as well.

So here are the rules: You must comment below with your best suggestions for creating a winter wedding! Suggestions can range from flowers, decor, lighting, favors… anything that you can think of! I will be choosing the winner based on creativity. The contest ends at 11:59pm on Friday, December 8th. The winner will be announced on Monday.

Good luck!!

I love subtle winter themes; frosty pale blues, purples and pinks for flowers - platinum linens and accents and lots of glass on the tables accented with low lighting. I once found tea light holders that were thick glass, reminiscent of ice. I love the whole Robert Frost “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” thing :).

A venue with a fireplace is a bonus, of course!

I love the look of snow, frost and ice. If I were a winter bride I’d have tables with ice blue or silvery table clothes with centerpieces (in a cylindrical glass vase) of branches that looked likey were coated in frost/ice. For favors, a beaded snowflake ornament (very non-denominational and pretty) with homemade hot chocolate mix. Now I wish I were a winter bride!!!

some fun ideas— say snowflake napkin holders with shimmery colors. silvers or golds paired up with a bride’s favorite color duo. rectangular vases could represent “ice cubes” but added warmth of winter florals, and tons of itty bitty lights… berries and branches could even double up as seating cards if a name card was attached. sugar coated rimmed cocktails…satins and fluffy marabou feathers for little accents! oooh boy…there is so much to be creative about!

winter wedding! - via 2 approaches
(1) - Big Budget Approach:
- get high centerpeices made up of branches or branches with little berries on them, or white branches
- or tall centerpieces with luscious white flowers and vines floating down
- have candles surrounding such centerpieces
- have sterling candleabras with long tapered candles lit everywhere
- have fabric-draped lights hung in swags around the ceiling
- opt for a venue that has a fireplace
- have a beautiful ice sculpture at the cocktail reception
- keep colors to a minimum - keep it stark white & black
- or take a bare venue and convert it to look like a winter garden..
- the ceremony/chuppah can have long vasess with long branches as well as candles lit

(2) Lower Budget approach
- i like the idea of white & black, or sky blue in terms of BM dresses, flower, etc..
- candles, candles, candles!
- centerpieces with one or two white flowers
ie_ white hydrangeas w/ white roses, etc
- have groom wear a tux
- make it feel like a formal winter wonderland
- work that tiara!! ;)

i don’t need the capelet but YES you look BEAUTIFUL!

i would think any kind of long branches that have been dusted with white, maybe hanging from the branches, personalized ornaments? hehe i don’t know, but i always imagined - if i had a winter wedding - that i would do “a starry night” theme based on the painting and make everything frosted :)

It’s an evening ceremony done by candlelight. The only ceremony decorations are real trees decorated with white lights. The bride arrives in a horse drawn sleigh snuggled in a warm winter cloak. The horses have on sleigh bells and you can hear the ringing from the distance. the bride carries a bouquet of white Amaryllis and red roses. The groom wears a black tux. All the attendants wear red dresses.

You looked so great Mrs. Butterfly!

My winter wedding ideas:

1) Instead of a petal toss, have your guests throw snowflake-shaped confetti.
Or, if this is feasible at your venue, towards the end of the night, you could have snowflake-shaped or just glittery confetti fall on the dance floor.
2) When the guests arrive at cocktail hour, serve hot chocolate with candy canes as stirrers and/or eggnog.
3) For a wedding topper, have a gingerbread bride and groom. (These would also work well as favors) Or even a snowman bride and groom!
4) Another favor idea: have cookies shaped as mittens. Package them in twos with a tag that says “We work better as a pair.”

I also like the idea of having mirror tables because they look like ice rinks and using frosted glasses.

If I was a winter bride, I’ll use:

1. Ceiling drape with white lights thoughout the room…..
2. A curtain backdrop behind the head table draped with organza and lights
3. Upon entering, either I’ll have an arch decorated with sheer organza with cotton batting strung all over it and puddles of it on the ground…with snowflakes and icicle ornaments strung to it.
or.. I’ll get dried white brances and decorate the arch and also but batting in between some of them…..
3. I would use lots of fabric everywhere…to make an illusion of blanket of snow.
4. Candles everywhere…..silver buckets filled with water and floating candles….
5. Centerpieces with different leveled vases filled with lighted candles……and snowflakes as place card holders
6. or maybe…..(it might sound tacky but oh well) white or silver balloons covered in tulle floating in the air or up by the ceiling so it seems like snow falling down….

the capelet looks great on you!!!

I think a lovely winter wedding theme would be an “Ice Wine wedding”. I was at an ice wine festival and a year ago where the bars, the serving tables and “mingling” tables etc were ice sculpted in the most beautiful and intricate detail. I think it would be a fabulous idea and very unique.

Wedding colours: Red wine colour
Favours: Ice wine jelly in jars and ice wine chocolates (they are so yummy!!!)
Centrepieces: Small ice sculptures w/ frozen grapes or flowers sculpted in ice.

Just a thought. Wished I had more time to hash out details, but I gotta go to class!

Arg! My post didn’t go through last time.
It had something about:
Hot chocolate with peppermint straws or hot apple cider with cinnimon sticks.
Ice Sculputres with small lights (either the LED votives or small candles). A low, thick bowl with “floating candles” resting on that fake-snow stuff instead of floating. Branches with hanging votives. In a fire-and-ice theme, use a ruddy orange with a silver overlay to warm things up.
Use tulips and other flowers that are in season. Find broken tulips if possible. Also use lots of Ivy (and some mistletoe, if you dare).
http://www.burdickchocolate.com/ has these double-chocolate penguins that would make good favors for a winter theme.
As for me, I’m using ivy, my color scheme actually is centered around a dark green, and I’m trying to get together a sparkler exit (after all, it makes more sense to have fireworks when it’s cold outside).

Pretty sure I can’t wear an x-small, but I love all the suggestions!

One of the great things about winter weddings is the food! Some foods just wouldn’t be good on a hot day. And there is no need to worry about buttercream frosting melting!

My suggestion is lots of warm lights and rich jewel tones to fight off the cold. Lots of exotic fruits are available in winter, making styrafoam cones covered w/ cranberries or kumquats would be lovely.

Mrs. Butterfly, you are too sweet to put your AMAZING capelet up in a contest. We love you!!!

My idea for the perfect winter wedding would be a FIRE AND ICE theme that plays up the delicious combination of hot and cold that always accompanies winter.

A good color scheme for this is deep plum and red to mimic the colors in a fire, without it the feeling of Christmas that red alone could bring at that time of year. The bridesmaid dresses would be dark violet ¢¢â€š¬” it’s so rich and looks great on most skin tones! One idea for a dress is: Watters and Watters style 4558 (http://www.watters.com/product.php?coll=watters&showid=91)

The dÆ’©cor would be warm, filled with candles, and a lit fireplace if possible. If there is a fireplace, I like this candelabra from Crate and Barrel for the top of it: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1340&f=13461To reflect the ¢¢â€š¬…”ice¢¢â€š¬? part of the theme, there would be a martini luge ice sculpture (see: http://www.capepondice.com/ice/ice_gallery.htm) OR (a less $$$ version¢¢â€š¬¦) bottles of vodka frozen in blocks of ice. One of the passed hor d’oeuvres could also be shrimp cocktail served on a tray filled with ice.

The centerpieces would be a mixture of candles and flowers. I adore this Twig Pod Candle Centerpiece from Crate and Barrel (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1340&f=13383&viewall=1) — it would look fabulous with 3 or 4 small vases nestled around it that contain flowers in deep purples and reds.

Also, reflecting the ¢¢â€š¬…”fire part of the theme¢¢â€š¬? would be a chocolate fountain and maybe little fondue pots with chocolate or cheese. There would also be spiced mulled wine for added warmth!

Mini twinkle lights would line all the trees and there would be hanging votives.

The favors would be personalized hot chocolate packets (http://www.favorsbyserendipity.com/edibles_product_pages/p-ie-5090119-dd.html) and white chocolate snowflake lollipops, tied with purple ribbon: http://www.charminglychocolate.com/product/017194.shtml.

As the bride and groom leave the reception, the guests would have mini fireworks all around them like sparklers.

I’m sure I can think of more, but that’s long enough for now :-)

Winter weddings offer SO much opportunity for creativity!

I’d go crazy with the welcome baskets for guests - mugs with packets of white chocolate cocoa, with your logo/monogram…frosty iced cookies…pretty mittens…glass snowflake ornaments…the possibilities are endless. Anything to make your guests feel cozy!

For the ceremony, use a runner of glittery white batting (sold as rolls of “snow” at craft stores) and have guests throw snowflake shaped confetti. Put tall bunches of white slim branches and evergreen with tiny white lights and glass icicle ornaments at the altar. I’d wear a white fur or faux-fur muff if I was a winter bride - so vintage and chic!

For the reception I’d have centerpieces of tall, slim branches decorated with more clear glass icicles. Definitely ice sculpture, of course… White hot cocoa, which is my favorite thing ever, with peppermint stick stirrers, for everyone upon arrival. Alternatively, spiked hot cider served en flambe - fireside elegance (and drama) in a mug! On the menu would be sticky-rice balls shaped into mini snowmen, maybe as an appetizer. And the scent of cranberries and citrus in the air.

Ok, clearly I’m having too much fun…I’m stopping now.

i’m thinking of… tiny snow-flake-like confetti raining down as u walk down the aisle/reception entrance.

Kiss a lot, with mistletoes hanging everywhere across the reception hall/ on ur flower arch!

Serve chocolate fondue with dried fruits and gummy bears as a surprise treat for guests,

and for favors, give out mini pints of (chocolate) milk, or even couple it with fudge or fruit cakes, and have the little gift in a small santa hat/sock for guests to bring home with.

I promise I haven’t read other entries before so forgive me if I end of echoing ideas others already had. I would invent a winter lodge like atmoshphere. Of course a fireplace would be awesome, if not possible then big fat candles burning with dancing flame. I would serve hot cocoa as soon as guest arrive. If the guests can bear it, then a bonfire outside for marshmellow toasting would be so cute, when the best man makes his toast (toast for toast). I would also have snowflakes and irex as decor. no hollies so it’s not confused as a christmas party. I can go on and on but this is a start. The capelet is really cute and would be great for my spring wedding, so I’ll shamelessly say pick me! pick me!

for a winter wedding, i’d love to have a reception with an ice pond (skating rink) nearby so that we can skate-dance. i think white fluffy earmuffs with subtle light blue rhinestones monograms (something blue!). perhaps our intials. just for a short time on the rink. the reception hall would be decorated with pure white table linens and probably be placed on a white blanket or white feathers as well (to create a snow floor effect). i’d love to use frosted mini pine trees with crystal sparkles as the centerpiece (just green and white). a fireplace would also be nice in the center of the hall and also create nice lighting. i don’t want a “holiday” theme, just winter wonderland. i’d like large crystal snowflakes (chandelier like) to hang from the ceilings, or perhaps just round white floral pieces. if there was real snow in the area, i’d love to take pictures while making snow angels..everyone on the floor spreading their “wings!” and of course snowball fights to follow. disneyland has snow bubbles that follow their fireworks show during the holiday season. i’d love to use something similar. maybe after the cake cutting or first dance, i’d love the falling snow effect. it’s so pretty! and everyone always reaches for the “snow.” this is fun! great idea. :)

Depending on where the wedding is located the ideas can vary considerably.
My idea of a winter wedding, especially in an area with snow, is the color of cranberry and white. Its a different approach since you have one of the colors already. An area with a pathway of trees. Apply tea light candles onto the tree branches, as well as crystal tear drops to make a chandelier effect throughout the pathway. On the trees a monogram of the couples name could be instilled on top of wreath that have cranberries with an ivory ribbon to hang from. The centerpieces can entwine the aspect of the colors by having cylinder glass containers (3 ft. & 1 foot) with cranberry colored items such as cranberries or jelly beans. The placard for each to know what table to go to can have a relationship on the couples favorite places to go.
For the guests to wish their warm greetings and leave messages, have your guest take pictures of themselves with a palaroid so they can directly insert the picture in the book and leave a comment.
Overall, the wedding should be an intimate occassion regarding the couples relationship during the time when dating. They should incorporate the aspects like their favorite foods to create hor’ dheurves. Yet, pre-reception foods could be mini hot chocolates with mini marhmellows and a peppermint stick, mini popcorn cones, mini rice krispy squares with wedding bell confetti. A creative design for a cake would be a individual miniature cakes for each guest in the shape of a snow globe with a edible picture inside the globe with snowlake confetti sprinkled on time and silver sugar dust brushed lightly on top.

Not an xs girl my self, but I do plan on being a winter bride!

I love the thought of havingthe STD’s sent out in July, to arrive the 25th of course. How fun for your guests to receive an envelope of snowflakes strung together with your wedding date on them.

Snowflakes would be the theme ¢¢â€š¬” carried through with a crystal snowflake ornament used as a cake topper. Snowflake ornaments would be worked into the floral design used on the end of pews. Invitations and place cards would be embossed with this motif.

The colors would be chocolate brown and ice blue with a hint of ivory. Attendants would wear brown dresses with ice blue sash, and oh yeah ivory capelets. There would be a hot cappuccino bar and hot chocolate awaiting guests. Favors would be brownies, frosted with powder sugar in a snowflake design.

I’m having a winter wedding and I’m lining the perimeter of the room with miniature Christmas trees filled with white lights and icicle ornaments. I am also including black and white pictures of us over the years in ornament frames as souveniers for the guests. We also have a wonderful fireplace in the room and we are going to line the mantle with Stockings and stuffed them with all sorts of Christmas related items from gift certificates to our favorite places to snowglobes to ornaments which will be given away during the night. Can’t wait! I’m so excited just thinking about it!

Being a winter/fall bride (today it’s 20 and it’s forecasted to be nearly 50 next week for my wedding next week) I didn’t plan for a “winter” themed wedding. But I wanted to have a guest book of Christmas balls in my colors in a big bowl on the guest book table, beside a tree with lights. The guests would sign messages and their names to an ornament with a gold or silver paint pen and then hang it on the tree. Since my wedding is a week before Christmas, it would be a nice reminder around our anniversary of all the people who shared our day.

IDEA FOR WINTER WEDDING: Line the aisle with a white runner and glass hurricanes. Alternate hurricanes with cream candles and some with manzanita branches. So classy and cool… i love winter weddings! :)

The theme color will be gold and silver, with a little touch of baby blue. I would def. want to have a snowfall machine, something like this:

http://www.effectspecialist.com/Snowoptions.htm

Also, I will use silver/gold Christmas lights, ice sculpture for cocktail, and decorate the place with only white flowers, in addition, ornaments as my wedding favor and incorporate it as part of decoration.

Winter weddings. They are so classy yet provide so much room for so many personal ideas. I imagine fur: fur capelet, to begin with. ;) I imagine fur-trimmed red flower girl dresses, with their little hands in furry muffs. The colors of my ideal winter wedding is red and gold. I would use red flowers, with gold accents.

The reception is where I would just go crazy. I would place christmas trees decorated in simple lights and red/gold ornaments. I would provide a photo area at the trees, where families could take family/friends photos. I would hang shimmering snowflakes from the ceiling with invisible string. Ornaments would be favors as well- gift wrapped in boxes, to match the Christmas theme. As a money gift holder, I would use a miniature sleigh with a Santa’s gift bag for the goods ;).

The whole reception area would be transformed into a winter wonderland. I would request Kenny G’s sexy Christmas album to be played (I love smooth jazz!). I’d also have a candy buffet, with gumdrops, candy canes, red and white colored candies. I would use a gingerbread house as an accent piece for the candy buffet, with a miniature gingerbread bride and groom in front o fthe gingerbread house.

Since the holidays invoke a sense of warmth and love, I would really play up the kind of environment that candles provide. I would place pillar candles everywhere to create a romantic ambience.

:*)

winter holidays are wonderful and weddings make them even more so. i think it would be very cute to have a christmas themed wedding. hire part time santa to take pictures with guests and elves to run around and give out candies at the reception. give everyone a reindeer headband to wear while eating and have a color scheme of red and green all throughout the ceremony and reception.

For the guestbook- how about preparing some ornaments where the guests can sign their names and leave messages….and then have them put it up on either a christmas tree or any other tree by the entrance (decorated in white, and w/ the wedding colors).

This way- at the end of the wedding, you will have your own personal collection of ornaments that you can put up every year on your tree at home….and as a winter bride, you will always remember your wedding as you look at the ornaments on your tree.

At my best friend’s wedding reception last weekend, the decorator took the shallow bowls often used for floating candle/flower centerpieces and stuck a 4-5″ red pillar candle in the middle. She then filled the bowl about halfway full with unwrapped red and white peppermints. It was about the cutest thing I’ve seen at a wedding!

Then the bride and groom also hung all of the guest favors on a Christmas tree by the front door. It was a great way for the guests to see the favors, and also to remind them to take one on the way out.

I would pick colors of dark blue (but still bright and cheery!) and white. I would have my aisle full of little white or wooden lanterns with white candles lit up. The flowers would be a mix of the dark blue and whites with a ton of little snow flake inserts. The bride would wear a snowflake necklace with the bridesmaids wearing snowflake earrings.

For the reception, I would decorate the ceiling with snowflake mobiles and the table setting would have the dark blue napkins. All of the tables would have the white christmas lights wrapped around it with the centerpiece being pictures of the FI and Bride playing in the snow next to several white candles and plastic snowflakes.

The cake would have a snowflake topper and for an extra treat, I would serve snowcones! For a take home gift, I would include a small dark blue ortanment and a snowflake cookie. If I wasn’t celebrating christmas, I would give away pairs of dark blue gloves and mittens for a warm drive home!

I’m a winter baby :) So for my 18th Birthday (a HUGE celebration for the Filipino culture), I decorated the reception hall where my debutante ball was held with snow…well MY version of snow at least :)

I ordered lots of balloons in dark metallic blue, white, silver, and opaque white. To each balloon, I attached a looooong string of clear fishing line in different lengths. At the end of each fishing line, I attached a silver, white, or light blue glittery snowflake, each of varying shapes and sizes. I let all the balloons loose above the dance floor, and it created this awesome effect of snowflakes suspended in the air because you couldn’t see the fishing line. The balloons just bobbed around through the night. And as guests left, I noticed them taking some of the balloons home. By the end of the night, they were pretty much all gone b/c everyone had taken one!! :) I hope they think of me and the fun night they hopefully had at my party whenever they see that snowflake.

I know a lot of brides might think balloons are tacky, but it looked lovely, and a lot of my friends and family ended up copying it for their birthdays/weddings (except instead of snowflakes, they used butterflies, glittery silver stars, delicate fall leaves, etc.). Maybe I could have even used the snowflakes as favors =p darn. Next time ^_^

That capelet definitely looked so warm and fuzzy and beautiful! And your giveaway contest is a wonderful idea! I’m not entering for the capelet, but I’d like to add some ideas:

If I were having a winter wedding, I would incorporate a snowboarding/ skiing theme. (I looove boarding!) Like setting up a ski-lift chair for photo ops. And miniature snowboards with names painted on them as escort cards.. Perhaps naming the tables after our favorite ski resorts or mountains.

I honestly wanted my wedding to be a winter wedding. I pictured the wedding to be at a ski lodge in the Pocanos. I would have had it outside, yeah outside. Like an outside sitting area would be arragned with heaters and chairs snow would be cleared. The dress is lined with fur and has a hood attached. Everyone could then retreat indoors by the fire. Flowers for the centerpeice would rest in Ice sculptured vases. Hot drinks would be served aka hot totties and spiked cider. Oh and i am sure they can make some kind of drink fountin out of ice. For favors you can make champain momento glasses with rock candy encusted around the lip.

Some winter wedding ideas:

- go for an elegant “old hollywood” look: evoke the season with “ice” ¢¢â€š¬”diamond or diamond-like jewelry, silver & white color-scheme with a hint of red or green

- as a gift for the bridesmaids, a wrap/shawl/pashmina in one of the wedding colors for them to keep warm throughout the day & evening; they’ll be sure to love it!

- have the reception at a quaint country inn or historic mansion to create a look of intimate warmth while still allowing for a large guestlist

- venues such as a church and reception hall/house will usually already be decorated for the holidays, which is always a bonus as it will free up some money allowing you to splurge on those Minolos you’ve been eyeing! ;)

- have eggnog, spiced wine and/or hot cocoa served to the guests as soon as they come in the ceremony and reception site(s)

- I love the look of a room filled with light by arranging pillar candles on a bed of pine branches, and small white twinkle lights accenting the decor — simple yet elegant (and budget-friendly!)

- possible centerpiece: bright red cranberries in a bowl surrounding floating candles always looks beautiful in the winter season

- possible favors: a snow globe, with a bride and groom inside, or a holiday cookie cutter with a cookie recipe attached that says your names, wedding date, and “truly cut out for each other”

- special touches I really like: decorate the reception with miniature and life-size Christmas trees; have the bride and groom travel by horse and carriage to the reception, complete with a fur throw to keep them warm; commission an ice sculpture to decorate the reception hall; use a crystal bouquet for that extra wintery feel (as a bonus, you’ll get to keep your your bouquet forever!)

I LOVE this list! Thank you Mrs. Butterfly for sparking all these wonderful ideas!

I’m a winter bride… February 2007 to be exact. We decided to stay away from the richness of the holidays and December and truly reflect what the world looks like in February in New England. Bare trees, pine cones and snow on the ground. Sort of that barren winter look but using LOTS of candles to warm everything up.

Colors: dark brown and white with accents of pale pink (a reminder that spring is coming soon!)

Aisle decor: lanterns hung at the end of every pew and lining the walk to the chapel. When our guests exit the chapel they walk around the corner to the hotel where the reception will take place. Our coordinator will hand the lanterns to the guests to light their way for the walk! (As our coordinator put it - “very Norman Rockwell”)

Centerpieces: we kept floral to a minimum; tall calla lily centerpieces alternating with tall vases with curly willow branches and hanging votive candles. Floating candles in various sized cylinders and sparkly pine cones and votives nestled in faux snow.

We are also giving welcome packages that are “Winter Wedding Survival Kits” and will include: matches, candles, water, nuts, chocolates, hot cocoa packets and a fleece blanket.

Wow, there are some great ideas listed here! What a wonderful post! I am a winter bride getting married in just three weeks on New Year’s Eve! So, I will share my suggestions for brides creating a winter wedding.

My biggest suggestion is this: Don’t feel tied into “traditional” winter themes! Just because your wedding is in the wintertime, don’t limit yourself to ice blue or Christmas-y bright red. I chose a less traditional color scheme, deep burgundy red and bright lime green, because I love cymbidium orchids! I started with the beautiful orchid as my guide, and I wanted our wedding to convey the same things that orchids convey to me: elegance, richness, brightness, and beauty. I will combine those characteristics with the glow of candles and the purity of water to create a a warm and rich wedding ambiance that balances the four classical elements.

For the ceremony, the aisle will be lined with eight hand-painted columns topped with ivory draping and two-tiered hurricanes. Each hurricane will contain two mini cymbidiums floating in water topped with an ivory pillar candle. At the end of the aisle, a fireplace will be aglow with a roaring fire and dozens of candles on the mantle. On either side of the fireplace, two tall arrangements of ivory calla lilies and bright green orchids will balance the look. Bridesmaids will be decked out in tea-length black and burgundy satin and will carry green hydrangea, orchids and ivory roses. Groomsmen will match, with burgundy vests and a calla on their lapels.

At the reception, tables will be set with tall and short arrangements. Tall arrangements of deep burgundy callas and curly willow will be accented by their vases filled with sliced fresh limes. Short arrangements will feature a bowl of water and sparkling rocks with floating mini cymbidium orchids and floating sliced limes. All tables will have glowing votive candles and a small box of Godiva truffles at each place setting. The feeling will be fun and fresh, and still elegant and rich without being too Wintery or Christmas-y.

A soul and funk band will place late into the night, and we will ring in the New Year at midnight! Guests will receive shiny silver hats and horns as New Year’s favors to liven up the party. After signing Auld Lang Syne, guests will grab shiny cones filled with roses petals and shower us with petals and we make a dash for our getaway car: a golf cart. :-)

So, overall, I suggest keeping your mind open about your theme, colors and ideas. Don’t be afraid to use colors typically associated with spring or summer, like hot pink and lime green. It can still be beautiful in the winter, and you don’t have to sacrifice warmth! Also, another suggestion is to pick something you love and carry it throughout your wedding design. It really ties the whole event together, from start to finish. For me, it was orchids. Don’t worry about it being “wintery.” Just go with what you love! It will turn out better in the end!

Hope this helps someone! I *heart* WeddingBee!

winter weddings are so inspiring !!!

GLOBAL AMBIANCE : a silver / white / light blue atmosphere … elegant, magical and fairy wedding. + a touch of alps chalet inspiration : warm light , wood … = significant of a cosy place to share a precious moment with friends and family.

FLOWERS : blue hydrangeas (I grow some indoor in that very purpose :) and some white roses de noel .

FLOWERGIRLS dressed as little angel with a little touch a sparkling make up, snowy white petals and vintage wood basket.

DECOR & IDEAS :
- to hire someone to grill and “offer” grilled chesnuts in paper cones matched with the brides colors …
- instead of a wishes jar, a wishes tree .. and why not a x-mas huge tree … guests will write down a few words and hang it on the tree decorated with a white light garland
centerpieces : cones decorated with our selection of flowers and some fake snow …and little but numerous candles on the tables for the warm ambiance
-woods and old time stuff
-balloons of different sizes covered with white delicate dentelle and lace fabrik . believe me it’s gorgeous !!!
- why not decorate a corner of the ball room where people can pose for the pictures. a nice fairy corner for a “bride wonderland” touch or a funny touch with a big photography of snowy mountains in the background or those characters body shaped big board , you just have a place for the head… to look like a snowman or whatever … and why not both in different places .. so that you will get original and unforgettable memories and your guests will have so much fun !!!!
- instead of a card holder, a little piece of wood (some “slices” from a branch) with the name of each guest engraved on it .. and cups or mugs, or cosy (or both !!!) as a favor. in each cup a copy of some of your favorite comfort food recipe. choose a set of 5 at least, not the same for everyone - so that people can share, trade, exchange … and start talking together … I would add a small amount of one of the ingredients : cinnamon, chocolate chips, etc ….

-and of course, a nice set of chocolate treats and some vin chaud ( warm wine and spices) to go along with the chalet theme …

and lost of candles and …. a big and beautiful fireplace … there is nothing as the light of a fire !!! so romantic !!!!

I have more idea but I should stop or I will spend the night on it …. :)
this blog is just WONDERFUL !!!! :)

I adore the skiing idea Mrs. Ant! I got engaged on a mountain while skiing and we’re deciding on a possible winter wedding date so that would be so perfect. I would love to hear more ideas if Mrs. Ant or anyone else has any. Placecards could be “lift tickets” with the name of different ski resorts as table names. You could decorate the reception as a ski lodge with lots of rough wood, kind of a rustic look. Vintage skis, snow shoes and ice skates could also be cute decorations. The grooms cake could even be made to look like a ski slope, if you could find little tiny people and trees to put on it, that could be kind of quirky and fun. Thanks for all these great ideas everyone!

I will be a winter bride, too; I’ve JUST started planning for my 12.07 wedding so thank you for all the wonderful ideas!

Our colors tentively are navy blue, silver & white. So far, we’ve decided that we’re using winter branches-real or faux twigs attached with lots of tiny white & silver beads & rhinestones- in tall vases as centerpieces. That’s all we have so far, LOL.
