In a House, On a Rock

I took this photo with my point-and-shoot camera at the Rockhouse on the Thursday before the wedding. See the lounge chairs on the edge of the cliff? Mr. Ant and our friends are sitting in them, admiring the spectacular sunset with their own eyes. pleased.gif

Choosing the Rockhouse was the best wedding related decision we ever made. It’s a small, boutique resort set on the cliffs of Negril, Jamaica. Our guests all stayed at the Rockhouse with us, so the wedding weekend was really like a vacation + vows with our 50 closest friends!

As you can see, it offers a gorgeous and unique setting for destination weddings. (photo credit: Tony Yang)

It really is that beautiful there! I swear it’s not just our professional photographer’s fancy camera. Here’s a candid photo of the reception area from a friend’s point-and-shoot camera.

As a Wedding Venue:
The Rockhouse only hosts 20 something weddings a year, with no more than one wedding per weekend. We love the staff there- they are delightfully friendly, but still professional. The food is incredibly delicious (even our spoiled and picky friends from NYC were raving about the food). And you just can’t beat the breathtaking views! It was frustrating at times during the planning process because all the vendors run on island time, but the resort wedding coordinator made sure that everything came together smoothly on the day of. We couldn’t have dreamt up a more wonderful celebration!

Aww Jenn. Where did you end up booking? With destination weddings, you can choose from anywhere in the world!

And I think that the Rockhouse allows young children as long as you sign a waiver. It’s definitely not safe for them, tho..

Beautiful! Just amazing. So, not to be crass or anything, but…how much? How much for a wedding of 50 people? Or is this a “if you have to ask you can’t afford it” situation? ;)

Pencils, a wedding for 50 at the Rockhouse can be very affordable (standard dinner, seashells and candles instead of flowers, ipod instead of DJ, etc).
In our case, we “splurged” (welcome party, passed hors douvres, premium buffet, premium flowers and decor, live reggae band, DJ and MC, + Sunday brunch)…
and we *still* found the Rockhouse to be much much more affordable than wedding venues that we liked in NJ or NYC.

Hi, I’m planning to have our wedding in jamaica as well. We were thinking about doing Montego Bay because it’s easy to get to. But I hear such great things about the rock house. How was it getting there? Is it a long drive from the airport?
