Ramblings

December 7th, 2006 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Lime

Sorry I have been MIA, all. It’s the usual excuses, plus I’m leaving for a much needed, week-long vacation to Australia tomorrow night. I am going sans Mr. Lime, and this is probably our last “family” vacation without him. That’s one thing I am truly excited about for when we get married - getting to take real vacations together. It’s been about 6 years since we’ve done that. Yeah, we’ve taken long weekends to Vegas, Mammoth, Palm Springs, etc. here and there, but our longer vacations have usually been separate save the aforementioned one that happened almost last century.

On a completely different note, I think I found my “wedding shoes.” I am definitely sure I will wear them after, and I’m considering even wearing them before as I’ve been looking for some cute metallic heels (is that wedding blasphemy to wear THE shoes beforehand? Too bad!). I present the Delman ‘Link-Mmn’ in bronze:

They are a little funkier and trendier than I had pictured for my wedding shoes. I’ve been searching for wedges for days as I will be getting married on the grass. Most of the wedges I’ve found are way too casual or didn’t suit my dress style wise. Flats would require extensive alterations to the somewhat complicated skirt of my dress. I don’t like how those low, chunky heels that don’t sink into the grass look. Platforms remind me too much of my mom and my fashion-challenged high school days.

Then, I came across a Knottie’s post on a deal on these shoes on Zappos.com. Metallic, tall enough to enable this shorty to walk around without stepping on her dress, and even has a touch of blue for my “something blue” (never mind that I’m not doing the something old/new/borrowed/blue thing).

I’m not 100% sure I’ll wear them for the wedding yet, but I have some fabulous jeans they’d pair up nicely with.

P.S. I <3 Delmans flats - they do have some that have potential to be “bridal,” but can’t bring myself to cough up the change ;).

Cute!! I remember wearing platforms *laughs*… yeah, a little reminscent of the awkward days I must say. Those are perfect for a grass wedding tho — they are still elegant/delicate looking with the sturdiness of a wedge. Get them!!! Have a fun trip Down Under, too! :)

Nice! Word of advice: be sure to break those bad boys in before the wedding day! I wore mine at work for a few hours a day for a couple weeks, which helped with the comfort factor. :)
