Dare I Be A 2 Dress Bride?

December 11th, 2006 @ 6:29 pm by Mrs. Emerald

Oy Vey… just when I thought it was safe… My dream dress is picked out, paid for and sitting in my closet! What more could a girl possibly ask for?!

Another one.

I was perusing thru the site http://www.efushop.com/ for their custom cheongsams and qipao’s, when I mistakenly clicked on the wedding dress link. OOPS. I came across this cuuuute “custom made” (is it really?) wedding dress for a mere $150 + $25 shipping!! Logically I know Mr. E would not want me to spend this unnecessary money, and I know my mom would also harp upon how unpractical this purchase is. Of course I wouldn’t tell them about it… for now at least… until I change into it on my wedding day!?

Am I being stoopid?? Is it me, or is this dress cute and cheap! Or do you think it might end up looking cheap and tacky? Ok, I don’t like the big ole flower applique at the bustline, but that looks easily removable. I love the empire waist and the flowy tulle. Supposedly you send them your measurements, so it should fit perfectly. This looks like a great dress to dance the night away in, boogie down to some JT… oh no oh no oh no whatdoidowhatdoidowhatdoido?

i would want/need to see it in person and try it on before purchasing.

well, it’s not exactly “custom” made if it’s not fitted to your body (just using measurements doesn’t count! though it sounds so convenient). It IS really cute, but honestly… it kind of looks like a Forever 21 version of a wedding dress, if they ever made one. Your money could be better spent elsewhere!

hm i don’t like this one. the flower in the front looks odd. and judging from the pics, the materials and fit don’t look so flattering! i would spend that money somewhere else.

I think it’s a replica for a Claire Pettibone dress. I dig it! :)

i like it! well, sans the flower. :) but i’d be a little weary… it may look really cute in the pic, but the material may be so-so when you receive it…

Be careful about what you buy from so far overseas! I saw many a dress on Ebay that looked so beautiful and so fabulous, only to read their Ebay ratings that weren’t so great. Needless to say, I decided to stay more local since I actually feel like I have some financial power here if I am horribly unhappy. If you want to be a 2 dress bride, go for it! Just be sure you are going to be happy with all that you have.

I agree with PP–it is cute in the pictures, but you might not be so happy with the fabric.

PUT THE MOUSE DOWN!

I really like the empire waist too, but that the seam showing prominently in the back is a big turn-off.

mmm i say don’t buy it. The empire waist is so high and the neckline so low that it ends up making that model look a bit pregnant :/. It also looks cheaply made. If you already have a great wedding dress, I say don’t spend the money. Use it on other things, like your honeymoon or a pamper day for yourself :D

i think you’re making the right decision to pass miss emerald!

it’s a cute style but a risk even at $150 since you can’t see the quality for yourself.

I stopped by to say pretty much what everyone else did, but it seems like you’ve already figured it out ;-).

If you fall in love with another dress though (not saying to keep looking!!! :-P) and it’s as reasonably priced as this one, then I definitely support you if you decide to get a second one. But I don’t think this one is it.

I love your new icon, btw!! Muy blingy! lol

Although the style is cute, the price tag worries me. What fabric could it possibly be made out of that makes it that inexpensive. what is holding it together? I would be very wary. The fabric is probably very cheap. In my opinion, spend that money on a great accessory for your current dress.

if you look at it closely (i spent a few hours examining dresses i thought were great on the site) you can see on the bust of the dress, there are small daisy appliques all over it. it looks pretty when glancing at it, but if you were to have the dress in your hands and were scrutinizing it, you might find it to be a bit cheesy looking.

however, this dress overall is fabulous and has a lot of potential. perhaps you could discuss a different option in the customizing process?

all the dresses i saw in the client gallery looked great on all the women, so .. who knows, they are probably trust worthy if its your second dress.

Hi there!

I got my dress from ebay and was very wary. It was cheap and was also from China. But I am telling you, it is a beautiful dress, well made, fabulous. And I think this one is great, too.
