Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Dragging My Feet

December 11th, 2006 @ 1:52 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Last night, while perusing various wedding sites, I realized something: I am really lagging regarding my wedding. Now, with less than a year to go, I need to do more! I have no florist, no matron of honor dress, no flower girl dress, and no ideas for invitations to name a few. It all culminated into a horrible dream; one where I was getting my hair cut (for some reason we were in a car) and my hair stylist asked when the wedding was. When I answered “two weeks,” I realized that nothing was done! It was basically the point I’m at now, but with two weeks to the wedding. When I woke up, I thought, “Crap, even my subconscious is telling me to get my lazy butt in gear.”

While I don’t need to get on the invites yet, I do need to see a florist soon. And I also need to find an officiant (really not looking forward to that), look at wedding and bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses. Our venue was renovated and I still haven’t been to see it to see what the new look is. I’m feeling overwhelmed and don’t quite know where to start! Ideas I have, many many ideas. It’s really just a matter of getting these ideas to fruition!

Where are you in your planning? Do you feel you’re on target in where you wanted to be right now?

ohhh don’t get me started on this one. i’ve been in super duper stress mode with wedding planning the past few weeks. i have a little over 3 months left and 21 things overdue on my knot list. AHHHHHH. *breathe* *breathe* i will get most of it done (hopefully) when i’m at home for the holidays.

so yeah, i think you’ll be totally fine. you have 11 months!! ^_^ but yeah, it’s good not to drag your feet too much. i think that’s what happened to me… time just flies!

Oh yeah, I’m so behind! No MOH dress, no florist, no officiant, still not sure if we can actually FIT AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE INVITED INTO OUR VENUE, no invites, no idea what “honorary bridesmaids” will end up doing/wearing, no groom’s suit……and a bunch more. With only 6 months to go! Eeeeeeeek.

Yikes! If you’re behind, I’m really behind!

Vendors I’ve booked: C&R Venue, make-up/hair
Vendors I’ll book soon (within the next month?): Photographer, florist, caterer
Things I’ve yet to do: Everything else.

As long as you have an idea about what you’re going to do for almost everything, you’re fine. My “wedding” bookmark list is really long and full of ideas, so all I really have to do is put those ideas into action! Oh, and I’m excited…I buy my dress in a week or so! Yay!

I’m always here to help if you need me! :)

I feel behind too. No worries! You have plenty of time.

I have a tad over 7 months to go and all we have is:

C&R site
caterer
my dress
bm dresses
and lots of ideas.

We are meeting with DJs & Photogs this week.

I’ve got a EXACTLY 5 days until the kickoff off my wedding and I still need to: finish paper flowers, write thank yous for shower gifts, clean my house for incoming family, pick up my dress from the evil seamstress (more info on website), get table plastic for the reception, and burn cds with must have music. In addition, I still have to wash about 30 more vases (one dw load), 40 bowls, fill the bowls with candy for reception, and make programs. Oh! And fluff all the pew bows out. Whew. I think that’s about it. Oops. I still need to decide on ceremony music.

You have plenty of time! I have 6 months, and I’ve only booked the location and the recipient! I haven’t even begun to look at dresses, have no idea what my bridesmaids will be wearing, still need a photographer, florist and DJ…..jeez….don’t beat yourself up, you still have tons of time!

I am dragging too and I need a florist and cake person. You’re not alone! I have some good leads for both, but with the holidays and school find myself just thinking “oh, it’ll get done later…” :-) And I have 7 months.

Nony Mouse

Miss Peach: amateur. When I was three months out I had over 100 things on my to-do list (not exactly reassuring, am I?). I have three weeks left. I just finished ordering cakes and flowers. I won’t be able to get alcohol until a week before. My venue won’t tell me how many tables and chairs they’ve reserved for me.

lol… we have 61 days left (or so says the countdown on the website) andI just contacted photographers yesterday… seriously (is this going to get me kicked off here??). We live in Gainesville, FL, so things are a tad slower here, but we’ve only started getting serious about things. We booked the venue maybe in May and the caterer finally in October. No florist sill. Too much work for me, too much school for him to worry about these things. It just occurred to me yesterday that we need to have invites sent out within the next 2 weeks.

Everything I’m writing is 100% serious, but I have to admit that we have been distracted since we’ve been engaged. We had a dog (our sweetest girl ever!!) who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May 2005. We finally put her to sleep towards the end of October 2006. Needless to say, we had been worried about her and her quality of life. Wedding stressors weren’t worth the possible sacrifice of her wellbeing. Honestly though, we are both busy and slackers. Our main wedding concern is that we’re married and that all who attend have a great time. Flowers and photos don’t play into that. We’re (I mean I’m) working on tying up loose ends!

I got engaged five weeks ago, and so far I’ve got: the venue booked–yay!; a wedding dress I think I want but have to try one; flower girl and a bridesmaid’s dress picked out, but they might be too expensive :( : and I think I’ve got our invites pretty much picked out, as I want to do Save the Dates very soon and I want them to be coordinated. See, our wedding is June3, 2007, so I don’t have much time! Yikes. Our venue includes the cake, although I’m hoping to have my mom bake the “real” wedding cake and have their cake translated into cupcakes, and it also includes centerpieces, which probably will be rather cheap and I’ll have to embellish, but I need to talk to the florist about that. I also know what I want for personal flowers. I think I’m doing pretty well, I’m just so busy with Christmas–haven’t finished the tree yet–I’m waiting until afterwards to really get going on the wedding stuff. I’m off the week of Christmas, so I hope to get a lot done then.

Hey guys, nice to know I’m not only on time, but a lot of you guys are in the same position. I think partially the reason I’m feeling so behind is because I got engaged back in March, meaning I’ve had 8 months to plan a wedding that is *now* 11 months away. So I’ve just had SOOO much time to do this. :) Damn long engagements. :)
