I looove photojournalistic candids that capture human moments and tell a story.
Take this one for example. I call it “Where are the boys? They’re late..”

But as much as I love this candid, I would hesitate to share it with a distant relative I hardly know or with Mr. Ant’s coworkers. So when these acquaintences ask for photos, I’m glad that we have more traditional portraits to share…

Looking back, I actually wish that we had taken more traditional portraits! There are plenty of photos of us lip-locked… but there isn’t a single portrait of us where we’re both looking straight at the camera, you can see my entire wedding dress, and there’s good lighting. It’s a standard, boring pose that we mistakenly dismissed. I wish someone could have told us to stop making out and just smile for the camera instead! And we were both so gung-ho about photojournalism that we didn’t write up a “must-take” list. BIG MISTAKE.
We completely forgot to take portraits of Mr. Ant with just his parents! Thank goodness our photographer pointed out that we should take a portrait with both sides of the family together… Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been any formal photos of them and we would be kicking ourselves in the ass right now.
I never would have guessed that I would regret not having more traditional portraits. Did you have any unexpected regrets?
