Weddingbee: Subliminal Messages

December 11th, 2006 @ 8:28 am by Mrs. Hibiscus

I have a confession. I’ve been very influenced by Weddingbee. I’m normally not easily persuaded but there’s something about people’s posts here that intrigue me. For example (how embarassing), Mrs. Bee’s post about her DS Lite brought me out of my 6 year video game hiatus. Hello, my name is Miss Hibiscus and I used to be a video game addict. Now, because of Mrs. Bee, I begged for a DS Lite for my birthday in September and I’ve since then received and purchased eight games. I spend my nights and weekends playing Phoenix Wright Justice for All (apparently it’s not out in the US yet–it’s the Japanese version with an English mode), Super Mario Brothers, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Brain Age, Elite Beat Agents, Cooking Mama and Trace Memory.

What’s even more concerning is that after showing my friends my DS Lite, FIVE of them have purchased one as well. Someone I’ve never met before posts about something and next thing I know, me and several friends (age range from 25-30’s) are whining to our husbands and fiances for a portable video game system. What’s even more strange is that Mrs. Bee’s post wasn’t an advertisement. She was just excited and sharing a piece of her life. Maybe that’s exactly it. It’s knowing someone is really excited about something and through their “recommendation” they do not get any sort of commission. I hope the tone of this doesn’t sound like I’m upset. I’m actually very thankful. (Thanks Mrs. Bee! I love my DS Lite! haha)

Now, this wasn’t the first time Weddingbee has compelled me to purchase something. Mrs. Ant posted about Prescriptives Virtual Skin Foundation and being someone who doesn’t wear foundation, I purchased this as well. Well, I also brought a friend with me and she bought the same foundation. Now, since I know that I am not easily influenced at all. I want to know that I’m not alone.

Have you readers found major wedding inspiration (share your story!), used any vendors recommended or bought something that was mentioned here on Weddingbee? Is there anything you have done that you wouldn’t have if it weren’t for being an avid Weddingbee reader? Also, have you spread the word to friends about something you read on Weddingbee? shy.gif

This is so funny that you’ve written about this today, because I was just thinking about it over the weekend. I’ve started doing Vow to be Fit because of Weddingbee, I got some of my Xmas gifts from Threadless - because of Weddingbee and I’ve ordered some of my stationary through Papersource, because someone was talking about it on - Weddingbee! You are not alone!

Um, yeah, I now proudly own a pink DS lite. I blame it on Weddingbee and the advertisements for Yoshi’s island. My fiance got it for me as an early Christmas present.

Yes, I’m guilty too!! No wonder I’m broke - ha ha I love this site! Let’s see…I also did buy some threadless tees last week. I asked my FI to buy me vow to be fit for Christmas - then I changed my mind because I didn’t want to tell people that FI bought me a diet program for Christmas. Then, after Miss Daisy’s post I asked my FI to buy me a date book with my name on it. I couldn’t wait so I bought a date book myself yesterday at Papyrus, it is also made by Graphic Images.

I think it’s the good vibe of good ideas. I too have been influenced by weddingbee … I didn’t buy a new handheld Nintendo system but instead resurrected my Gameboy Advanced and obsessed for a solid month playing Tetris and Dr. Mario. My fiance thought it was so strange that ’suddenly’ I was playing Gameboy again. I was also influenced by Miss Bluebell’s Paper Source purchase of the double happiness stamp and further inspired to make my own save-the-date cards … I’m seriously considering making my invitations as well but wary because of the 175 I’d have to make. Ah weddingbee how will you influence me next?

Haha…I ALWAYS tell my friends about things I’ve read on Weddingbee. My biggest confession? I’ve actually been all about weddings after I found Weddingbee. Pre-Weddingbee, I was like, “Weddings? I could care less.” At the time, I had a friend who really wanted to be a wedding planner and I remember thinking, “It doesn’t sound like THAT much fun…” and now, I would totally wanna try wedding planning!

I was inspired by Miss Plumeria’s postings on her taking a cake decorating class at Michael’s. I had been secretly wanting to do this for a long time and her posts pushed me to sign up. I recently completed my first class and it was great. Thanks Weddingbee!!

I love weddingbee! I’ve found a lot of helpful tips for my wedding!

After Mrs. Bee posted about eweddingshoes having big discounts on Vera Wang shoes, I checked out the site and found my wedding shoes - Entrata Pascale. They shipped it out the day I ordered it. I got it in about 2 days, really fast service!! I LOVE the shoes! They’re so pretty and comfortable!

Thanks Weddingbee!

Im guilty too! I thought about the DS Lite and then when my 9 year old cousin came over with it, I couldn’t put it down. I asked Mom and Dad for one for my 30th birthday last month and am OBSESSED!! Threadless got my order last week and I am looking at a few pairs of shoes on eweddingshoes.com as well! You guys rock and I love all the ideas shared here!
