Craigslist

December 12th, 2006 @ 4:22 pm by Mrs. Emerald

Craigslist has a number of postings for “Professional Wedding Video Services.” I know it sounds ghetto, but I want a very basic wedding video. I don’t want to pay $1000+ or any fancy editing - I just want the day documented so I have something to look back on. So I emailed some of the postings, and I guess I’ll see if they respond.

Has anyone had any experience finding a vendor using Craigslist?

Oh, by the way - I posted the “job” under “creative.” So instead of soliciting the vendors, they emailed me about bidding for the “gig.”

Miss Emerald, I too am looking for a videographer but can’t jusify spending loads of $$$ on it. I checked on Craigslist awhile back and no listing came up, maybe I didn’t search the right title. I also called a local art school (tech school) to see if they could post a job in there career bulletin. I have yet to receive a call. Let me know how it goes or any leads would be terrific!

I’ve used craigslist to find a wedding videographer for my brother’s wedding earlier this year. I highly recommend it. I got alot of responses (from students, amateurs and professional). What was great about it was that you could tell them what you are looking for, ask them the equipments they use, and tell them the range you are willing to pay. I’ve also been able to negotiate an all day price for $400 (coverage from noon to midnight) and a final edited dvd from a recently graduated film student. A pro who responded to the listing cited me $500 for the same. So I gave the info to my brother, and he booked the new graduate.

We found our band through Craigslist. I only contacted bands that had websites and could send us a CD, just to ensure that they were in fact real and have played and other weddings. They turned out to be wonderful, one of the best choices we made and much cheaper than the band “factories” you find in New York that charge and arm and a leg.

I found our photographer on Craigslist and LOVE him. Highly recommend! Just use common sense and screen accordingly.

I found my coordinator on Craigslist. I only needed a Day-of coordinator to usher people into the reception, meet the vendors and other things I won’t be able to because, well, I’ll be sportin’ the big white dress that day. I prefer to do most of the planning because I do it (event planning and PR) anyway so I’ve got that handled. Besides, all other coordinators I talked to didn’t do just the Wedding Day but the whole thing.

I found our videographer on Craigslist and loved them. I actually cried when we first watched the video. Good luck!

Miss Emerald- I’m also from IL and getting married in Oak Brook. I don’t know about Craigslist, but I found a inexpensive videographer I like that you may be interested in. One of my friends used him and loved him. Check out the website http://www.imageworx.org/
