Having The Wedding Blues

December 13th, 2006 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Violet

Lately I’ve been inundated with a lot of pressure at work, and keeping up with my social calendar has hindered me from fully focusing on my wedding. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my wedding is 8+ months away. It seems like some brides would freak out over that number because they feel like they are running out of time, but no, not me. In fact, I feel like we’re slowly crawling to our Big Day.

Most of the major items are taken care of (I think) and there are of course, a million little projects I have to work through. But I feel like it’s just too early to be doing them. For example, I have a sample of the invitation I plan to make, but I don’t want to make all 50 of them yet because I think it’s too early - just in case I need to make changes, etc. I’ll probably send out the invitations early though, like 5-6 months before the event. We were planning on doing Save the Dates, but in the end decided not to. It looks like we are going to be inviting more people than we want, so we really didn’t think STD’s were necessary. Another dilemma I’m having is regarding the favors. I think we will be doing edible favors with a packaging that is elegant yet different.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic. As great of an organizer/planner I am since I do sort of do it for a living, I’m feeling a bit stressed out. I’m used to planning events under a time restraint and now I have 8 more months to plan this wedding. Sometimes I wish we had a shorter engagement. Although everyone says that it’s great to have a long engagement because you’ll have more time to plan, I just feel like I lose momentum every time I stop working on my wedding and do something else. Do you ever feel like that?

I think I’m just stressed and I need my vacation. Time away from the office and home. I’m really looking forward to my Japan trip in two weeks. Hopefully, I’ll come back refreshed. In the end, I know, it’s all about us and it’ll be perfect either way.

And in other news, Mr. Violet & I celebrate our 8th year anniversary today. We’re going to celebrate over Italian food at Il Tinello tonight. :-)

i didn’t think i needed the save the dates either but i made and sent them out anyways. mainly because i have a lot of out-of-towners and a lot of our friends are career holders, i thought it might be nicer and more proper for them to plan ahead.

I’ll be in Japan in 2 weeks, too! Where are you going? If you’re going to Tokyo, can you recommend some areas for sightseeing?

TheBrideToBe- Yes I’ll be visiting Tokyo mainly. My sister is over there right now so she’ll be our tour guide! I haven’t had time to research on what we’ll be doing yet so your guess is as good as mine!
