I’m so close to finishing I can taste it… or maybe it’s just the red velvet cupcakes I made the other day in a stress-induced binge. I took a break from my writing yesterday to start on my holiday cards, which should hopefully be sent out by the weekend! The cards are my annual release from the school year (whether as the teacher or the student), and they officially mark the start of the holiday season for me.
I took the GOCCO off the shelf and went to town printing on my stored collection of Paper Source postcards. Soon my floor was covered in drying prints and I was humming carols while watching HGTV and the Food Network. Oh how I love my craft time!
But this year I needed Mr. Lemon’s input, since his name would be on these cards as well. It was strange since it was the first “non-wedding” craft to need approval, but in a way it was pretty neat. Well, except that he vetoed the first incarnations of my penguins and didn’t notice the heart in the lights until I pointed it out. *sigh*
Next up… dozens of cookies to decorate and more wedding crafts to start!!! Yippeee!!!

Oh, verrrry cute! Man, I wish I was crafty and clever. The only craftiness I have is baking. I made gingerbread AND sugar cookies on Monday! YUM.

SO adorable!! I noticed a huge penguin trend this year, probably due to the movies. I love the lights forming a heart.

It’s an original design from all kinds of sources.
My penguins weren’t turning out so well, so I looked on istockphoto and found a “rounder” version - mine were thimble shaped w/o any wings. So, the snowflakes (I took real paper ones, scanned them, and turned them into vectors), snow & penguins were arranged on the computer & printed out, and the lightstring was hand drawn.

penguins are me and my bf’s official mascot. lol, mainly because i loved them and told him the nifty trivia that they mated for life and he loved that idea. but those are wicked awesome miss lemon! i just finished my crafty mood…made gingerbread men [and decorated them!] and my killer fudge. i’ll be boxing them up for gift baskets this week!
your cards are awesome! people are definitely going to remember these and save them. wonderful work! (and i noticed the heart in the light string right away)
