Open Question: Change of Ownership

Dear Weddingbee,

I just found out that my venue (a hotel) is changing ownership next month. We’ve already signed a contract but I’m considering looking for an alternative venue for our May wedding because I’m scared they might not honor the terms of my original contract or they might make any changes to the decor - which is why we booked it in the first place. I can’t speak to the new owners because the current owners say they don’t even know who they will be yet.

What should I do? Has anyone else had experience with their venue undergoing a change of ownership before their wedding and did everything turn out ok?

I used to work for a hotel-it changed ownership shortly before I left and the new owners chose to honor none of the existing contracts as they decided the rates were too low(why I left). I would call them now and speak to someone in management to find out what arrangements may be in place. Also,they might be changing things around as well.
