Affordable Sashes

December 19th, 2006 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Lemon

I have yet to decide if I’m going to wear a sash with my dress. But at $400, I knew I was not going to be buying it from the designer’s store. So, I figured my best option was to buy fancy ribbon myself and then make my decision later! Perhaps I’ll be daring and wear it for the reception to spice things up! :)

Many other brides seemed to recommend Romantic Flowers so I jumped on the bandwagon and checked it out. I ended up ordering 4 yards of Midori satin ribbon (in 2 3/4″ size… the 4″ sash was too big for my dress) at a bargain price of $4.12/yard. For $20 shipped, I got my blond ribbon in the mail in just a few days, and it’s truly gorgeous. It’s more like a piece of satin fabric than actual ribbon, and I’m very impressed with the quality.

Now I’m really going to have a tough time deciding AGAINST wearing it!

what does your dress look like? why not wear it without for the ceremony and then with the sash for the reception?

Unfortunately I can’t share any photos of it until after my wedding - but it’s a strapless Monique Lhuillier ivory silk dress that’s drop waisted with a sweetheart neckline. :) I’ve seen editorials with both skinny and wide sashes, and no sashes at all on the dress… so… it’s really just up to me!

Midori ribbons are the best! I bought their organdy ribbon to use as seating card holders.

How close are the actual colors to the colors shown on the website? I’d like to order the aqua but fear that it will be too dark
