Has Anyone Tried This Product? : wedding makeup Mac mac.jpg

I am seriously considering doing my own makeup for my wedding day. Although I know that this is a day where I should be “pampered,” I feel like all 4 times I have had my make up professionally done, I immediately went and wiped off at least half of it. I’m sure it’s a matter of finding a good makeup artist, but then it also seems that they happen to charge an arm and a leg. There is this one woman who gets constant raves on theknot Chicago boards, but her prices are way outta my range ($250 for the bride, $75 for attendants, w/3 person minimum).

I’ve heard good things about airbrush foundation, and so was happy to see that MAC came out with their own reasonably priced version. I’ll have to stop by the MAC store and have them put some on me. I’m a makeup fanatic, so I think I’m pretty adept at doing my own makeup, which is why I would even consider doing it myself. :)

I feel the same way Miss Emerald. I love makeup and I am thinking about doing my own too. I have done a couple trials at Mac and I end up looking like Mimi from Drew Carey. My only worry is how it will look in photos.

Ms. Snail used this on me for my trials. I think she mixed two of them to get my exact shade. If you use it with a foundation brush, and lightly brush it all over, then you should be fine. its pretty light but covers well. she also used MAC concealer (cuz i had a major zit that day), and I believe also a very loose and sheer powder on top of it.

Have you ever tried having a Mary Kay consultant do your makeup? I know I am skeptical about those, but fi’s friend’s gf does it and she’s very good. They charge $25 for attendants and the bride is free. With her, I can say I don’t like this, do this again, can we try this color instead etc but for the most part, I have liked everything she’s done for me. She’s going to do “wedding day makeup” for me the day of the shower so we can really test it out for the whole day.

i did my own makeup on the day of the wedding. i am very picky when it comes to my makeup, so i think doing my own makeup was the most cost efficient and safest way to go for me. i have never tried this new MAC product, but i do recommend the giorgio armani luminous silk foundation. great coverage, yet utterly flawless! even the girl that did my hair, who also did makeup too (i just didn’t want to use them) was really impressed by it.

I agree, I’ve gotten my makeup done several times by professionals and no matter how many times I go back to the same person it never looks the way I want it to. The only way I like it is to do it myself :)

Hi, just wanted to add a rave for armani’s luminous silk foundation. I’m Indian, with pretty good skin, and I NEVER wear foundation. However, since everyone kept saying you need to be more flawless for the wedding pics, I decided to try this out. It’s amazing. The only foundation I’ve tried that feels like a moisturizer — but with just enough coverage. Not too matte, not too dewy. And you can control how much you put on. The instuctions say to use your fingers, but I like a sponge better. The brush is okay, but I don’t think I’m adept enough for it. :)

I did mine and let me tell you…at least find someone to do your hair. I didn’t have time todo anything on that day since I was setting up the reception roon and the ceremony room. I used estee lauder double foundation I believe and I love that. Another thing that is really good is MAC concealer..the cover-up one. That works great under eyes~
