Cactus Centerpieces

My dad has had a passion for gardening his entire life, and his favorite plant to work with is the cactus. He’s created many grafted cactus arrangements in the past, and I recently realized that they’d make beautiful wedding centerpieces. Not only do they come in many vibrant colors and forms, but they’re affordable and accessible too. You can usually find these small cactus plants at your local Home Depot for around $2 each.
The cactus centerpiece is something that I would even attempt to diy, since you can take one type of cactus arranged in a couple of straight rows together, and it’d look great. Plus it’s almost impossible to kill a cactus.

There are so many beautiful varieties of cacti and succulents - many are even shaped exactly like flowers. They’re definitely a unique and interesting alternative to the traditional flower centerpiece.

These cacti look awesome! I like the idea of a succulent wedding bouquet. I wish i had thought of that when i got married :o)
I have those cacti at home for a couple of years now and they’re super cute!
I didn’t know there were so many colorful varieties! Anyone worried about a curious guest getting stuck?

I am actually getting married in the Valley of Fire national park outside of Las Vegas and I would like to have cactuses in my theme for the reception. But where do I buy cactuses in bulk?
I was wondering how you went about doing the bouquet. Did you do it yourself or have a florist do it? I was curious on how the succulent with roots was secured? It is a beautiful arrangement and I plan on doing something very similiar for my wedding! I appreciate your help.
Ok so this is way beyond when the post was done and it is now on the year ago list but….
I just have to say that the plants in bouquet are not a cacti. Just in case they get inspiration from this and tell a florist this is what they want. The florist is going to look at them funny if they say they want cacti in their bouguet but they won’t be as shocked about a succculent.
It is created with succulents which are much softer and are not prickly. However, they have very similar easy care and come in lovely colors like the catus. These plants in particular are called Hen’s and Chicks because the grow in groups of big and little ones. They come in a variety of colors with an open rose like shape. To learn more…

there is a gorgeous cactus called a “Starfish Cactus” that would look great! They’re easy to grow and they don’t have the thorns! I got a clipping from a co-worker and have started growing my own. It looks fake but it’s totally real!
