Eighth And Final Wedding Of 2006

December 27th, 2006 @ 9:26 am by Mrs. Lime

My dear college friend got married a couple of weekends ago in Hollywood, baby. Overall, it was very fun because the bride and groom looked so happy and glow-y. Catching up with a few tables-full of old friends was fun, too.

Here’s some eye candy, mostly blurry, taken mostly by yours truly [I'm infamous for the blurry pics]. All ceremony pictures were taken by Mr. Lime as I was standing out in the tiny, freezing cold foyer greeting guests and numbering valuable little envelopes ;).

Warm, tasteful holiday decor inside the church. The candlelight, although mostly faux, imbued the space with such warmth.

Here comes the [blurry] bride!

w3.jpg
The photographer’s “gifts” to guests that he plonked down. Cute e-pics, but shameless advertising, dude.

w4.jpg
Cute alternate take on the framed and displayed e-pics. Not digging the overall, unbalanced composition, but very cute idea. The guests all gathered ’round to check the cute couple out both pre-ceremony and pre-reception.

w5.jpg
Reception hall setup before guests arrived. Talk about being center stage…

w6.jpg
The jazz band was pretty good; it set a festive, almost swanky mood for the evening.

w7.jpg
First dance as the ‘maids look on. Check out the bride’s cute shrug. I’m usually not a fan of boleros or shrugs, but hers really worked.

w8.jpg
One tradition I am so happy to give up along with my singlehood. She tossed it pretty dang high. Notice the girl in the pink sweater praying it’s not coming toward her. There are quite a few crossed arms as well. I’m not sure if it’s just my demographic, but no one ever wants to catch the bouquet at the weddings I’ve been to. A good-natured bridesmaid or close friend of the bride has to step up and catch it.

Whew, time to catch my breath while taking a break from the wedding circuit, right? Nope…

…and the list starts for next year:
l + j = february
c + j = march
h + a = may
l2 + j2 = july
US = august
l2 + j2 at-home-reception = august

All but two, including ours, are out of town. Since we’ll be saving for ours, we probably won’t be able to make all of them, unfortunately. I will be going to the ones in Febuary and March, though, so look forward to more blurry non-pro pictures!

Oh my goodness — that’s a lot of weddings! I really like the lighting on their head table but agree it’s a little bit “out there.” The ceremony looked gorgeous and I also love her bolero/wrap. I absolutely hate wedding photographers that set their business cards and postcards out like that — how very tacky!

Thanks for sharing :)

that’s how the bouquet toss has been to all the weddings i’ve been to as well. you could always find me in the back of the group ready to run to my seat should the bouquet inexplicably come anywhere near me. lol.

Wow…I’ve got…zero weddings lined up for this year. Although my cousin just got engaged ( I think! LOL), so that should be coming soon…or within a couple of years I would think. I guess I’m not to the age of everyone getting married, just yet. (I’m only 20)

I actually think being on stage is a pretty good idea, although, if it were me, I’d be too self-conscious/shy to be everyone’s focus while I’m eating. I think it would work perfectly with a bridal party table up there because that way, the rest of the guests can see when speeches are being made and such. With that said, I LOVE the ceremony and reception set up. It’s sooo beautiful.

What a beautiful wedding!
Would you happen to know the name of the church? Also, did she have the reception at the church or elsewhere? I’m looking for a ceremony site and having a hard time finding one that matches my interests- a long aisle & a cathedral ceiling. not sure about the aisle but it looks like the church definitely has that Gothic, traditional aura to it!

KC,

It was First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood just off the 101. The reception was about 40 steps away in a hall at the church as well. The parts of the reception hall I’m not showing in my pictures weren’t as nice, but they weren’t too bad, either. The aisle wasn’t super long but a decent length, and it does have a nice, warmer gothic feel to it.

For a place that satisfies all your criteria, try Westminster Presbyterian in Pasadena. Their reception hall is not quite as warm, but would be fine with the right lighting & decor.

Great, I’m going to try contacting FPCH tomorrow. Pasadena seems a bit too far from where majority of my guests are from… but I did add it to my list for consideration. Thank you for such informative/quick reply!

That center stage set-up looks positively terrifying.

Other than that, it looked like a great time!

Oh my goodness I think she’s wearing my wedding dress! I bought it off ebay and know absolutely nothing about the designer, Harriet de Prag. Man, if you could ask her about it that’d be awesome. Did she buy it new? For how much? Did she have any issues with it? I’m curious how she bustled the back. I’d love to even see more pics of it, too. Wonder if she’ll post any pics online…?

Ms. Lime, I’m about to book Westminster Presbyterian for my wedding in Oct ‘08, do you know the rules? Their website said something about premarital counseling. What do they talk about?

Tina, this is actually Hollywood Presbyterian, sorry. Westminster Presbyterian is beautiful, and my mom got married there about 10 years ago. I am sure they would be able to help if you called them directly. Congrats and good luck!
