Open Question: Outdoor Wedding Shoes

December 27th, 2006 @ 12:51 pm by Open Question

Hi!!

I love the site… but one thing I haven’t seen featured is wedding shoes for garden/outside weddings. Any ideas for cute wedding shoes that won’t sink into the grass?

Thanks,

Kat

I would say maybe wearing a platform shoes so it wouldn’t sink into the ground and change into sandles.

Or ballet flats, which are what I’m leaning towards…or just going barefoot! :D

Definitely go for flats. My friend found a cute pair on http://www.zappos.com

My sister is wearing wedding tennis shoes with a bit of a wedge platform heel. That way she can walk around and dance without feeling like she will fall over in heels. I’ve tried on these tennis shoes and they are the cutest and most comfortable pair of wedding shoes I have seen.

I also agree with K with trying flats. They make them so cute these days that they can be darn irresistable!

I remember Miss Lime had made a post about her shoes, which are wedge heels because she is having an outdoor wedding. You can browse through her posts to see!

My Glass Slipper has these wedges:

Ballroom dancing shoes are also an option¢¢â€š¬”they have a more substantial heel and are less likely to sink into the grass:

Flats are always cute, too!

i’m still decididing if i can deal with being in 4″ heels for that long. delman’s has tons of cute flats if height isn’t an issue for you .

I have another question (not sure if this should be in reader buzz) - has anyone heard/seen moissanite rings? Moissanite is a gemstone that looks very much like a diamond, and is a cheaper alternative to diamonds. Apparently it even fools some jewelers!

Thank you for all the suggestions!! Miss Lime, I love your shoes but with recent knee surgery I know that 4″ is too much for me. I do think I’m going to go with some cute wedges from the sites you all mentioned.. in case anyone else is looking for bridal-ly wedges check out the ones I found! :

a little conservative

I know this is probably very late for you considering you posted your message a few years ago, but if you ever need to find a way to keep ANY pair of heels from sinking in the grass, I would try these: http://www.heelsabove.com

I used them for my wedding recently, and all of the bridesmaids loved them!

Try to find a wedge heel. Maybe in silver or gold because white/offwhite shoes are going to look dirty once you walk on soggy grass.
I went to an outdoor wedding once where the grass was wet and soggy.

I used Heels Above for my outdoor wedding too.
Loved them.
They were perfect at protecting the shoes and keeping them clean out of the grass.

I’m getting married outside in October…to you guys who used Heels Above…did they help you from sinking and were they comfortable to walk in? I’m seriously thinking about getting them. My fiance is over a foot taller then me, so I really don’t want to do flats! And all the wedges I see are not wedding material!

Hi Em,
Yes, Heels Above were totally comfortable to walk in. You don’t feel a thing b/c they are so light and inconspicuous. And they do what they claim to…. Keeping your heels above grass. Definitely do not sink in. That’s why they are so fabulous. I would give them a shot. And they are so cheap too. What do you have to loose? :)

Em,
I too ordered Heels Above for myself and my bridesmaids. They really worked like they said.
I would try them. They are inexpensive. Somebody did a really great review of them on here too. Check it out.

Hi,
I’m using heels above too for my outdoor wedding. They were a pleasure to deal with. I ordered enough for all my female guests to give them as the favor at my shower so they’lll have them for the wedding day.
