Meal On the Day Of

December 28th, 2006 @ 9:55 am by Mrs. Orange

I am down with a stomach flu. The word on the street is it’s definitely going around. So, make sure to wash your hands when you get home!

All day I’ve been staring at the Panera Bread’s Catering Menu and wondering what I should order for lunch the day of the wedding. The wedding does not start till much later in the evening and gosh darn it, this girl needs to be fed!

So my question to you is, are you planning to eat the day of the wedding? And at the wedding? If you are already a Mrs., please share what to avoid — :)

Yes, I must be fed or I will kill everyone in my sight, wedding or no wedding. I, too, wonder what to eat–the problem is, it seems like you have to avoid EVERYTHING (no rice, pasta or bread, no tomatoes, no broccoli or cabbage, limited sodium)–what can you eat???

just from past experiences, I know to avoid anything tomato - pasta, sauce, soup, or juice. Pasta can make you bloated. Also, someone once told me to avoid any dairy products too.

BTW I love Panera!

Lukewarm chicken nuggets from McDonald’s are easy, but not very tasty. I love the broccoli cheddar soup from panera… yum yum!

i was surprised that i DIDN’T feel like eating - pretty much all day. probably my nerves. so i’d suggest something very light and not too rich.

you must eat!!! trust me, you will barely have time to eat anyway, so just make sure you eat a nice lunch. for lunch, i ordered room service and bought easy eating stuff, like grilled ham and cheese, chicken caesar salad, turkey club, water, etc. i wouldnt start drinking coffee tho - you’ll be pretty much wired all day, you wont need it.

also make sure you give yourself 10 minutes during the reception to eat. otherwise you’ll regret that you didnt taste the food that you so carefully picked out for your guests. =)

A la Miss Ladybug, FI and I met for breakfast at a local diner and I had a protien filled breakfast of eggs and toast. Since we werent dressed yet for the day I didnt have to worry about mess. While we were getting ready I ordered a fruit and cheese platter for the girls and me. My dietitian mother recommend the fruit and cheese as something filling and light.

I am thinking I will want pizza. You can never have enough pizza. But I will probably try to eat something that doesn’t make me feel like a cow.

We got married at 4pm, but were up at 7am. We had a hardy breakfast (bagels & eggs), followed by a light lunch (wraps)… and most definitely made it a priority to eat at the reception. Afterall, we’re paying for it. A bit bummed that we missed out on the cocktail hour (since this is where we spent the most money), but we hear it was really good.

Knowing my eating habits - i get hungry every three hours and need to snack on something. I might have some fruit smoothies in one hand and chex mex in the other. Eeeeeek, diary and carbohydrates - my tummy will be nice and full for the wedding pictures. haha….

I’ve been sick for the past 3 weeks too, get well soon Miss Orange. Take your vitamins! -)

Please eat! Eat, Eat, Eat!
My Wedding was at 4 pm and I woke up at 8am. My MOH and I went to the complimentary buffet in our hotel and I had a waffle with fruit and some tea. Just FYI, this was not sufficient. I didn’t get hardly anything to eat at the reception even though my caterer and two very attentive friends kept bringing me food-I was too busy!
When I got back to the hotel, my new husband and I scarfed down two huge slabs of wedding cake that had been saved for us and a variety of junk food that was being served at the unofficial after party in the hotel. We ate and ate. I needed a TUMS afterwards.
I recommend something light but a little more filling than my tiny waffle and tea-especially if you are looking at an evening wedding and may be drinking alcohol at some point!

Miss Orange-
PS-Try those Emergen-C packets if you aren’t feeling well.
They will replenish your vitamins and nutrients if you aren’t feeling well and are quite tasty. Try Cranberry.

I feel my best when I eat along the lines of South Beach Diet phase 2 or 3. Favorites are whole grains, veggies, low-fat protiens (turkey, chicken, fish, nuts, egg whites, tofu), fruit, green tea, diet ginger ale, sparkling mineral water. Would certainly avoid anything that could make one allergic, bloated or gassy. Despite best plans for eating, I’d still have an Immodium tablet handy, just in case of upset stomach from nerves; works great.

Anything bite size is great. For my wedding, my mom bought us kimbap (which is korean style sushi rolls - no raw fish / just vegetables). At a friend’s weddiing, chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A was great (one of the wedding coordinators got us bridesmaids a 120-piece tray of chicken nuggets). Oh, and any clear liquid is fine to drink as long as you have plenty of straws!

Did you really ask, “Are you planning to eat the day of your wedding?” You would be #$%*ing insane not to. Eat whatever you want to. Eat like it’s just another day. There is no “special” food you need to eat for your wedding. You’ll be worse off if you change your normal habits. It’s even more important to eat if you’re sick and weak.

Don’t be an idiot. Eat.

if i want to actually pay attention to what’s going on and focus then yes, i will be eating. when i get hungry i get slightly irritated and the only thing i’ll talk about is food [i'll end EVERY sentence/question with something food related] and then go on what can be equated to the effects of a sugar rush…whew, i’m getting exhausted just thinking about it.

I can maybe understand the no pasta/no carbs and dairy recommendations…what I don’t understand is the tomato one… staining???

Hm

wow…no need to be so mean Weezer.

Miss Orange is right to be careful about what to eat because some foods certainly do cause reactions even if you eat it regularly. Plus, you’ll be busy all day so eating some light protein & veggies will keep you more energized than say consuming lasagna.
