For My Bridesmaids…

January 3rd, 2007 @ 8:27 am by Mrs. Plumeria

I’ve had my bridesmaids’ newsletter in the works for a long while now, but things have been so busy I just never completed it. Family conversations which ensued over the holidays did help to motivate me, as they sparked a sudden realization that the wedding is really only a little over four months away. I’m not sure how that fact evaded me all this time, but once I became fully aware of it, I’ve really been pushing forward with wedding plans… you can definitely expect to hear more from me as I do so! :) Anyway, without further ado: my newsletter!

The top page is a letter to them. This part was by far the hardest, because I don’t think I can really express how much the friendships of these girls mean to me! Behind that page, I put written information about schedules, location, dresses, shoes, and hair & makeup.

I used the styling and imagery that I had created for the invitations. The tulips ended up looking nice, though not in the metallic gold ink they will be printed with on the invites, since I printed them at home.

The last page has all of the dress details for them, including a swatch of the material. The outfits consist of different tops, skirts, and sash options from which the girls can mix and match to choose their own outfit. I had a unique problem in presenting the dresses, because they are being made, not ordered from a manufacturer — so I did not have pictures of the outfits for them to choose from. Furthermore, the different pieces are taken from various sewing patterns, so even the photos on the pattern envelopes could not portray what the actual outfits would look like. So, I decided to get a little crafty and make paper doll type pieces for them to play with. Their final outfit can be taped onto a mannequin on the response form so I know exactly what each girl wants. I hope that they’ll have a little bit of fun with the whole process, since they didn’t get to go and try on dresses at the stores.

Finally, I tucked all of the pages into a plastic folder, ready to be placed in the hands of my six dear friends. :)

I did the old fashion way of just sending them BM newsletter over the internet since it was so hard for me to get all of them together. I think this is really a cute idea~

those are SUPER cute! where did you get the tulip image? I love love love it!

I used tulips for my save-the-date and had a stamp made and then embossed them… It would be fun to use another tulip image on somethign… maybe the thank yous for my showers…

That’s so involved and detailed! BUT, it’ll help them a lot and looks great. Now I feel like an underachiever!

great job, and very elegantly and well-executed. it’s a nice, fresh breath of air from the other BM (often not well-designed) newsletters i’ve seen floating around. it’s making me consider maybe doing it, even.

the paper dolls are too cute.

Thanks! I was pretty excited myself after I was done with them — somewhat painstaking, yes, but Mr. Plumeria did volunteer a helping hand (and in doing so, gave me yet another reason why he’s the one for me! Would you believe he was *better* than me at cutting out these?). Miss Raspberry, the tulips were originally a pen and ink drawing I had done, then scanned into the computer.

It was actually not that difficult; the whole thing, once I got going, took only a couple of nights to design and then assemble… so never say never to the possibility of making your own! :)

Wow, thats awesome… I feel like a slacker too, but I still have 8 months so I guess its never too late??

Question: Do all of your bmaids read weddingbee?? I’m debating whether or not to let them know I post here… I dont want to ruin some surprises!! hehe =)

This is one of the best bridesmaid newsletters I’ve ever seen. All the other ones are so cutesy and make me want to vomit. Yours, on the other hand, is well-designed, clean, informative, and just awesome.

jasmin says:

HAHA you’re a nerd too! Just kidding. It’s awesome.. (way better than a webpage haha). Everything you make turns out beautiful. I’m excited.. just 5 months left! =)

25.
Miss Plumeria says:

You all make me feel so happy. Anyway — Miss Emerald, I think only my MOH Jasmine reads this, since she’s in two weddings this year and is totally immersed in bridal culture. Some of my other friends who are getting married read too, though (*cough* JenChen Alice Jasmin *cough*). Actually, posting on Weddingbee is my method of sparing the bridesmaids from me talking too much about the details of planning… I still want them to be my friends afterward! ;-) By being a ‘bee, I can share my wedding planning craziness with people that actually like to hear about it! :) Thanks everyone! Hey jas… I think your webpage is AWESOME and worked perfectly for what you’re doing!
