Miss Kiwi’s Got Some Updates

January 4th, 2007 @ 4:23 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Howdy hive! So I am oddly upbeat today for many reasons, which I will list below:

We’ve decided to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon! While I have been looking forward to Hawaii, it’s not like it’ll get uglier. :) And as Miss Bluebell pointed out, there are tons of people who would love to get the chance to go to Costa Rica, and for almost free?! I do love a bargain, and getting both a bed and a honeymoon for about the same price really struck a chord. Costa Rica isn’t a consolation prize to Hawaii, I know. So as soon as Mr. Kiwi gives his friends the “yes, we will take your house for a week” nod, we’re all set!

Also, I am getting my new glasses this weekend! Hopefully they will be what I wear in the wedding. I am going for nerdy frames, since that’s what I usually wear. If I’m brave enough, maybe I will post before and after shots with the old glasses. Since I am usually a bit of a nerder, I think that less sophisticated frames will actually be more “me” for the wedding. When I get back from the eye doctor, I’ll fill you in on what kinds I think I’ll wear- maybe I’ll see some that surprise me. But because my prescription is complicated (four different prescriptions for one pair of glasses), I will most likely have to wait a week or so for the actual glasses.

More news! Like I stated in my resolutions post, I need to visit our newly renovated venue before our wedding. So, yesterday I contacted them, and made an appointment to visit this Saturday after my eye appointment! Why this Saturday? So I can see it in preparation for an event! I am so excited - we’ve only seen video and pictures of our venue. In case I haven’t mentioned it, we’re getting married at the Radisson in my hometown.

These are a few updates, but I still have many more things to attack (flowers, cake tasting, DJ, officiant, DRESS) but one step at a time, baby. :)

I went to Costa Rica for my honeymoon too. Since it’s suppose to be the #1 adventure honeymoon, I suggest that you don’t miss out on the ATV and ziplines. Also, if you can, try to spend a couple nights at the Four Seasons resort there. It’s absolutely beautiful. The food is great, there’s a private beach, and they offer a variety of classes like salsa, scuba, snorkeling, etc. They also have a spa and someone rolling cigars at night. Oh and buy some coffee to bring home for yourself or friends!

Just in case you’re interested, we went with Costa Rica Expeditions (http://www.costaricaexpeditions.com/) when we did our honeymoon planning. They’re very flexible and made everything super easy. If you give them a budget, they’ll stick to it. And they adjust hotels/meals to your liking. Also, once you’re there, they drive you everywhere (pick you up from your hotel to your destination and then to your next hotel or wherever you’re suppose to spend the night). We went during the low season (September) so everything was cheaper (hotels, food, etc.)

When you book your hotels, tell them it’s your honeymoon and some may leave extra things in your room (fruits, etc.) or give you a better room.

I spent two months studying Spanish and culture in Costa Rica in 2004 and hated to leave it. With very little pushing my fiance has decided that he wants us to go there for our honeymoon! You will absolutely love it!!
