Open Question: Invitations

January 4th, 2007 @ 3:26 pm by Open Question

I’m in NYC and trying to figure out who to use for my invitations. My wedding is 9/29/07 so I should find someone soon right? Originally I was thinking of going down the letterpress route¢¢â€š¬”they are so beautiful. In order to stay in my budget, I think I’m going to have to opt out of that.

So I was wondering who you are using for your invitations¢¢â€š¬”any good recommendations? I know of this on weddingbee, but I was hoping for more specific info.

Could you let me know:

1) What Invitation vendor
2) Website or contact info
3) Price range
4) How many invites you’re getting
5) What kind of process you are using
6) If you have pics to share of them?

Thanks¢¢â€š¬”much appreciated!

hey MCR,
1) Julie Holcomb Printers (purchased through the Wedding Library)
2) http://www.julieholcombprinters.com/ or http://theweddinglibrary.com/
3) somewhere north of $2,500 for invites (2-color), reception card (2-color), rsvp card + env (1-color), inner and outer envelopes.
4) we bought 150
5) letterpress with gilded edges
6) pics: http://jadedem.typepad.com/wedding/2006/09/fly_little_invi.html

i found William Arthur to have much more affordable letterpress (we used it for our casual thank yous) and Vera Wang was not terrible either. definitely check out some of the letterpress printers that other weddingbees have posted about– Mercurio Brothers and Dauphine come to mind and may still be in your budget… best of luck!

I’m in the same boat, and my job keeps me very busy. I’m in California, but I found this online, and it turns out she’s started doing this after her wedding. Her blog is Mycandypaper.wordpress.com There are some pictures of her recent work. I just contacted her today for mine!

Hi MCR, Yuan Xu is a graphic designer who runs her own invitation and stationery company, Lemon Drop Invitations, and she did an amazing job on my wedding invitations. Here is a gallery of some of her designs: http://ykx86.smugmug.com/gallery/1133358. My invitation, which Yuan custom designed based on what I wanted, is in the third row down, the last one to the right. Her prices are very affordable (about $2-3 per invite), the papers are gorgeous and the quality is excellent. She also designed my wedding programs and table cards, and I received so many compliments on how beautiful they were. For more information, you can reach Yuan at info@lemondropcards.com. Good luck with your wedding planning!

We used Cards de Luxe (www.cardsdeluxe.com) to custom design our invitations and wedding day stationeries. Susanne is very creative and her prices are reasonable for the quality and talent. We used her for design service which was $200/set and then we found a letterpress printer to print them, but her price ranges for invitations are $5-8.

We went with Michael C Fina (wanted very traditional), then picked up a calligraphy pen at Art Brown (NYC - everything from cheap to not cheap) where the proprietor said we should have ordered the invites from her for a better price. Good luck. At any rate, would check Art Brown for pens!

1) What Invitation vendor - OlioStyle
2) Website or contact info - http://www.oliostyle.com
3) Price range - if i recall correctly, panel invitations start at $3.00 per set for the invite and rsvp card, but they’ve got a ton of styles including pocket folds which is what we went with. everything is custom designed, so i basically told them what i wanted and they’ll give you quote based on your style and printing method.
4) How many invites you’re getting - $100
5) What kind of process you are using - i had them quote flat printing, thermography and letterpress. i ended up going with flat but a more intricate design.
6) If you have pics to share of them? - i just got the hard copy proof…and they’re in the process of printing them…it will look something like this on their website though : http://www.oliostyle.com/wedding/jamaica/index.html

good luck on your hunt!
