There’s No Place Like Home

January 4th, 2007 @ 8:41 am by Mrs. Peach

Happy Happy New Years Everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA for awhile… I have missed theeeee! I was at home in Atlanta in Super-Wedding-Planning mode, but I’m back in NJ now and boy do I have much to share.

To start off, my dad brought my traditional Korean outfit (called Hanbok) from Korea. Last summer my grandmother took me to get this dress tailored. Mr. Peach, Mama Peach, and Mama-in-law Peach also got a tailored outfit. I won’t be posting pictures of me in mine until after the wedding, but you can take a peek in the box. Red and green are the traditional colors for Korean brides. I’ll be wearing this for the latter half of my second reception.

This is a closeup of the traditional Korean shoes I’ll be wearing with my outfit. Thank goodness they modernized it by adding a heel! ^_^

Here’s something for my hair. I’ll have to think of how to incorporate this into my hair for the wedding ceremony:

Now if only I could be like Dorothy and click these red heels together to take me home. I miss my family and Atlanta already. There really is no place like home… Less than three months left. eeeps!!

OOh, I can’t wait to see your new hanbok? I just got my new one for my wedding too over Christmas. Mine has a red skirt and a white top with flowers. I’ll be posting a picture of it soon on my site.

Nice shoes too! :) I hope they’re comfortable.

Hel Hel- i got the shoes at the tailor where my dress was made (in Korea). not sure where to find them here… although i bet if you go to a Korean hanbok place they should sell shoes there too.

Miss lime- we’re not doing paebaek(Korean traditional wedding ceremony) but i wanted to wear a traditional outfit so that why i’m changing into it later at the reception.

i love the hanbok! i’ll be renting mine and we’re not doing paebek either.

i’ll be wearing a qi pao to greet his side of the family and then the hanbok to greet my side.

and then back into my wedding dress!

My hanbok looks very similar to yours. I also got it custom-made in Korea while i was there this summer. When they first gave me the red heeled shoes to try on i was thinking “Wizard of Oz”! Although we are not having the paebek ceremony my future MIL got us the hanbok and we took portraits with it on during our engagement photo shoot.
