About Mrs. Hibiscus

Starting every Sunday from February 4th to March, 4th Crate & Barrel will be hosting their special Registry Events. If you’ve never been, you should definitely go! It’s a lot of fun and you get some wedding registry stuff done. Two hours before opening to the public, the store is open exclusively to couples creating or updating their registry. The staff personally shows you how their appliances work, they have cooking demonstrations with their products and suggest items that are popular for registries. There is free food, free champagne and best of all free heart shaped toasting flutes as a gift for coming. If you’re interested (which I know you are) call your local Crate & Barrel and RSVP.

My experience with this event was fabulous. My fiance and I had a blast! It’s awesome to have the whole store practically to yourselves. (Well, not exactly - there were roughly 20 or so other couples.) The breakfast was delicious! So many yummy treats to munch on. We got strawberry cream cheese filled french toast as one of our options. It’s a brilliant marketing ploy on their part. The only downside is you get a short registry orientation while you’re eating where they basically tell you to get 10 of everything “because you might break it down the line.” Also, they tell you to put beds, couches and other expensive items on your registry.

In the end it’s your decision, but they strongly suggest that all your co-workers might want to pitch in and get something really big for your wedding present (too bad my co-workers are starving students…haha). They definitely don’t attack you. They give you a scanner and let you go where you’d like to go. Most of the sales people just stay in their departments and wait for you to come to them. It’s pretty low-key and fun to watch the other couples fight over what to put on their registry. “No way are we getting those plates! Over my dead body!” or “How many cheese graters does one person need?” Lastly, my favorite, “What are you going to do with an $180 pan? You don’t even cook!” At any rate the free toasting flutes that you get for coming are quality, and who doesn’t like free stuff?

The events are Sunday mornings from 9AM to 11AM on February 4, 11, 18, and 25 and lastly March 4.

Oh, and while you’re there you can pick up the free guide 50 Things You Wish Someone Had Told You Before You Registered.

nice review! mr. lime and i went with his best friend and now wife last year when they were registering and had a lot of fun. there was no “orientation” at the one we went to and no pressure to register for tons of stuff or high-ticket items. the free food & mimosas were quite yummy, too, i must say.

Williams Sonoma Does it too! Just go into your Local Store, and ask when they do “Store is Yours” events.
