Invitations

January 5th, 2007 @ 10:54 am by Mrs. Poppy

Edit: Oops I mistook the rsvp price! It was only $12.95 for 32 cards and envelopes, so that comes out toe 31 cents a card! WOOT!

~~~
I’ve been gone a while, yes I know. I apologise but I’ve been quite the little busy bee… flower. ;) I do have updates though!
My invitations are in and it was fun putting them together with my Mother in Law and my sister. The kit came with the back card, ribbon, the actual invitation and envelopes. They provided glue dots to attach everything and although none of them are perfectly centered, know that we made them with love and lots of laughter! Oh I almost forgot - Mr. Poppy made some too!
I can’t figure out for the life of me how to take pictures clearly but the only good that came out of this is that I don’t think I have to blur out anything. :D What do you guys think? In person they are much prettier, but like I said - I am no photographer.
I also made RSVP cards:
top - envelope, bottom closed card; opened card
I bought these folded cards from Barnes and Noble for super cheap - I think under 50 cents per card. They are glittery, beautiful hand made paper. Since they came blank I just insereted them to my inkjet printer and made the RSVPs that way! Everything about our wedding have been very hands on and I like that almost everything was something special from our families to our guests.
So… what do you ladies think? You like? I like it a lot but I love the time I got to bond with my Mother in Law and sister most of all. :)
I promise more updates to come. I miss you ladies!
Yes, where did the invites come from? That is what I want to do - get them printed and put them together myself. Very pretty!
Alyson, I am in July and haven’t formed a decision with invites yet, but I’d definitely start looking if I was you.
Those look great! I like the hands-on things, too. But some days I am cursing myself and wishing I could hire a full scale Fronk Egglehoffer. Just making decisions. :-)
I might have to copy your idea for an RSVP. I don’t want to order anything, don’t know how I feel about the postcard thing, and those look great!
great job, and it’s even greater that you had some bonding time as a result of the assembly process.
re: taking pictures. try looking for the ‘macro’ setting on your camera. it’s often a little tulip icon. it lets you take crisper images of things close up.
Alyson — I think you need to start thinking about invites. Work back from the date to figure out when you will send them. That couldbe 6-8 weeks before, although some people give more time so that they can send out b-list invites and people won’t know they were b-listed. So you might be sending in May at least. If you are having invites made it might take a long time. If you are having a calligrapher you will need to add a couple weeks or more for that. Keep in mind that summer is the busy season for stationers and that might mean longer waits for materials. If you are DIYing it’s not a big deal, but depending on how intricate you want your printed pieces, I’d say you should at least get to a stationer and talk about what they suggest for a timeline based on some samples you like. You don’t have to choose anything, just get some information for yourself.
thanks everyone!! i love them too :)
alyson - well i have mostly out of town guests so i’m planning to send them out next week because they have to book flights and hotels. but if your guests are in town i think it’s ok to send them out later. but i suggest you look now for invites as they are super hard to decide on.
erika/lindsay - i got these at invitationkitchen.com but sadly they closed down dec 31st and are not coming back! so i hope that i ordered enough ;)
wsukarebear - yeah don’t i know it!!! i know that if it weren’t for my sis and mil i would have been cursing like a little sailor but it was the bonding time that made it worthwhile. the good news was that i don’t really care about perfection - i just did it to not only save money but spend time together :)
miss lime - ohhhhhh tulip setting - got it! i’ll try to look for that next time. i’m not too good with digital cameras. i miss the days of good old film where i had to do nothing but press a button. ;)
ooooh miss kiwi! i missed ya. how’s things going on your end? *HUGS*
linnybride - that is some great advice!! thanks for sharing that with all of us.
mrs bee - thanks for the compliments! i know that nothing at b&n is cheap but it was amazing to find these. and as always i think you’re cute as a button. *HUGS*
tea - oh no you’re not weird at all… they do look like sorbet and it’s making me hungry at the moment hahaha
