Trip to NYC

January 5th, 2007 @ 12:20 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

Hello all you ladies in NYC…

I am going to be in town the last weekend in January to attend the International Gift Fair and also to do a little wedding shopping. :)

I am looking for your thoughts on the places that I am not to miss when it comes to ribbons, paper, craft supplies, etc… Anything for DIY projects!

Please help. Thanks!!!!

Mand J trimming

both are can’t miss. When you are at M and J walk around that area, there are a ton more bead, trim and fabric stores around there. Have so much fun!

Hi Miss Raspberry, For ribbons definitely check out Mokuba and M&J Trmming. Both are located in the mid 30’s on the west side. For paper/craft supplies check out Kate’s Paperie and Sam Flax which have several location in NYC. My personal favorite ribbon company is Midori. They make beautiful organdy and double faced satin ribbon. You can buy their ribbon online at romanticflowers.com. Good luck!!

Ribbons? Trim, sequins, crystals, all that stuff? M&J Trim. http://www.mjtrim.com/ They’re at 1008 Sixth Avenue. Then go around the corner on 38th and hit Tinsel Trading for vintage ribbons and trim. They’re at 47 W. 38th St. http://www.tinseltrading.com/ There’s another ribbon store across the street from Tinsel Trading, but I forget their name. Then walk up to 39th and hit Mokuba. http://www.mokubany.com/

That’s pretty much an entire day’s worth of ribbon and trim shopping. Amazing stuff, just amazing. I was in M&J right before Christmas. A girl came up next to me. “Wow. Ribbon,” she said, in a dreamy voice. “It’s sort of overwhelming, isn’t it?” I replied. “Yes, it is,” she said, staring up at the racks of ribbon stretching up fifteen feet into the air. I know less about fabric shopping, but they’re in the same neighborhood. There’s always Sposabella Lace, too! They’re at 242 W. 40th St.

Have fun!

Mrs Bee, we’re all probably there at the same time, thinking, “wow, I could do the most amazing stuff with this for my wedding..”

When I was last in M&J Trim, I saw the most beautiful sequined and beaded appliques, and I immediately thought: bridal sash! They would look amazing put on the center, or the ends, of a long 3″ or 4″ ribbon sash–which M&J also, conveniently, sells. However, I chose a dress that isn’t appropriate for a sash. Oh well. Maybe the bouquet wrapping… ;-)
