Just when I thought the guest list was just about set, my parents had to go and get another daughter…
Her name is Eliza, and they just adopted her from a local shelter. We’re not sure what she’s ‘made of,’ but she looks similar to our other dog, Maxie (a schnauzer mix). Eliza is about 2 1/2 years old, and has had a rough life–she appeared at another shelter with matted hair, mange, malnutrition, and her litter of 10 or 12 puppies. But now her puppies are weaned, so my parents adopted her and are taking great care of her–last night my mom spent a couple hours working the knots out of her fur, and they just got her spayed. She’s also not completely housebroken, so they’re working on that.
But what does this mean for the wedding? It’s just under 5 months away, and I don’t know if she’ll be calm and trained enough to be there–she hasn’t already proven her mettle like Maxie has. Plus, we can handle Maxie no problem. But two dogs? Oi…it’s a whole ‘nuther story! I honestly don’t think she’ll be able to make it.
Here’s me, Maxie (who will be at the wedding
), and Eliza:

Even though Eliza can’t come to the wedding, maybe I had better pick up another one of these, so she and Maxie can match at the day-after brunch. ![]()
